How do you guys use cannabis to meditate, Do you just roll a joint or take a bong hit and close your eyes and relax?

Meditation practices focusing the mind; calming the train of thought. In my experience cannabis tends to make my mind constantly wander, and begin moving very fast. Essentially, for me, smoking before meditating would seem counter productive. This may be different for other people.

But if you truly want to benefit from meditation then I would strongly recommend doing it sober.

I have a hard time seeing how someone can meditate properly while on drugs. Wouldn't that just work to enhance the psychedelic experience of the drug which would be a very dynamic and thoughtful state of mind? From what I understand about meditation that is kind of the opposite of what you want.

So I really must ask, what your meditation experiences are like with marijuana?

I can still meditate while sober, but to truly feel focused and able to connect, I use smoke. I have a hard time trying to accomplish my meditation with all my anxiety issues. It also lasts longer when I smoke. In example; while sober, even after meditating I do not feel whole. Like it's unfinished business, which then adds to my anxiety. When I smoke; I feel more focused and feel that 'cleanliness', per se, after meditating.

But isn't the whole point of meditation to LEARN how to chive that state WITHOUT the use of some external factor. Of course its harder to do that, but that is why meditation takes time and practice.

It's all a matter of how one finds it more satisfying, sober or not.

Nonetheless, in my personal opinion, it is a short cut. It may help achieving the desired state, but in doing that it does a lot of the work for you.

I used to be a bit of a psychonaught and eventually came to the conclusion that any psychological benefits from drug use (such as achieving some kind of enlightenment) is at best just an "idea" of what that state should feel like.

I think of it as looking at the picture on a puzzle box; it gives you an idea of what the end product should be but doesn't show you how to complete the puzzle.

So meditating with pot may help you get where you need to, but then what about when you don't have pot? Isn't the whole point of meditation to give you a center that is yours and is always with you? If you always meditate with pot then the center is in pot, not you.

...I suppose if you are always high it might work because that is your most common state anyways...

...ah Shiva, the Lord of Yoga, who sits deep in meditation, is perpetually stoned on cannabis, he is the Lord of cannabis. Cannabis gives an increase in attention energy, and that is why Sadhus, Yogis, Taoists, Fakirs and other mystics have used it so much over the last few millennia.

Further consciousness did not originate in emptiness, it is a combination of things, input and output, food and experience, the complex man-cannabis relationship via cannaibinoids, is a product of co-evolution. It is not accident that Cannabis has more healing power than all the churches, mosques and temples of the world.
