Wow, this doesn't happen often, but I cannot disagree here with Chris. If you're going to rely on consensus science, like, peer reviewed stuff, there are plenty of articles demonstrating that cannabis has "healing power" whatever that is.

Are these powers exaggerated by some? Probably, but I'd wager the exaggeration of cannabis' healing power is nothing compared with television ads for pharmaceuticals---the happy, healthy old people, and then the quick voiceover: "WARNING: side effects may include anal bleeding, blindness, spasms, hysteria, chronic inflammation of the uterus, spontaneous abortion, chills, fever, weeping, wailing, gnashing of teeth and upset stomach."

The plural of anecdote isn't evidence, but anecdotes are good evidence for individuals in terms of the practices they wish to continue---that's a far different matter from recommending a practice to another in the capacity of physician.

That's what I thought ... there really is no comparison. I don't believe that cannabis is in competition with faith or religion or prayers or however you choose to view it. I suppose one could attempt to compare the "addictive power" of cannabis to the "addictive power" of religion. However, I view that as the type of rhetoric that drug pushers and religion pushers engage themselves in. Pushers are the only ones that feel threatened by the perceived competition.

The impression that I got from your comparison was "arrogant drug pusher rhetoric". Had your comparison been switched around then I would have gotten the impression "arrogant religion pusher rhetoric". Either way I would have questioned it.
