my tea is might be a bit more far out but it has worked srangely:
Stones ( ones i can remember):
Serpentine
quartz
topaz
jade
moss agate
black obsidian
citrin
amethist

every second day i am adding about 2-3ml of iguana bloom juice per 1L of water. and i would occasionally give it some bone/blood meal smile

Works like a charm!

i don't even know what to say to that.

doobie to answer your question...

theoretically, yes you can build your soil enough to sustain the plant throughout its life and actually grow some great dank doing it. it takes a long time to hone in on the 'perfect' mix of soil.
what i mean is that i build my soil with npk's and secondary minerals and all that. but i don't know if i can push it further, so to find out i feed additionally with teas. and that process is different with different strains. i just keep turning it up until the tips burn a bit, then that is my limit for feeding that strain. also, i use my teas to innoculate myco's.

Horehound, not to be nasty or anything, but it sounds like you are using 'crystal medicine' or some such holistic stuff. Apart from the liquid Iguana (wow...that's gotta hurt...), you may as well mix in four leaf clovers and rabbits' feet!

Homegrown.mone, you and Weedmen answered my question perfectly. I thought as much, that teas are there to add whatever the plant(s) used up from the mix, or perhaps micro-nutrients that weren't there in the first place. Of course, you are assuming knowledge of deficiency symptomology recognition. Funny thing is, part of my job included doing something very similar, so I should be able to learn the signs of deficient or excessive nutrients without too much trouble.

Peace

is the liquid iguana bad for the plant?

Im not taking offense at all tbh. it is the " crystal medicine" type of deal but i didnt beleive in it until my friend lent me her stones, and it actually made a difference, not sure why but it was fantastic for the vegging.

Glad to hear you were not p#ssed at my response. I'm not exactly a big fan of the 'hole-istic' scene. As a scientist, I tend to see things analytically, and without repetitive documented proof, well..it's all a load of fertilizer, imo.

I see my (lame) iguana joke missed its mark blah. When I said 'that's gotta hurt' I meant making Iguana Juice must be a little painful for the Iguana involved... brickwall

yeah that one missed its mark. Im usually the same way about the whole holistic type of shit, however im convinced that the minerals rubbing off of the stones are doing something , but im curious about different ways to grow and sustain life and thats partly why i joined the forum smile

lol...i got that one doobie. but also important to realize is that you probably won't be looking for 'deficiencies' as you stated. that may be the case at some point or another. but because we provide so many nutes and minerals in the soil and through feeding, a nutrient deficiency is unlikely. the things that will be more common that you will find are signs of general plant stress caused by over/underwatering, heat, cold, to much direct air, and other environmental conditions. also, you will look for things on the plants that will more commonly be the results of ph problems causing nute lockouts, which can appear like a deficiency. kind of confusing but i just wanted to clear that up for you so you didn't get confused.

also, regarding the tea. i mentioned it briefly at the end of my last post, but teas are also commonly used for the injection of mycorrizae. this is important to understand as it is a vital part of the whole organic scheme. if this word is new to you, give it a search, cause you have some more reading to do. but yeah, most myco products are powder that is water soluable, so i usually mix it in like 30 mins before i water with my tea.

Well, I assume myco is referring to fungi e.g. mycotic, and not tuberculosis - e.g. mycobacterium! Rhizo has to do with roots I believe...so you are adding fungi that affect the roots ? Clearly this is for a beneficial affect, soooo...how does a fungal species help the roots of a plant (again, assuming I am not right out in left field on all this!).

You mentioned that your source of this is a powder; can you give me a commercial name to look for ? Does the powder contain lyophilized (freeze-dried) spores or is it a complete suspension of hyphea etc. What I am trying to ask is, how quickly does this stuff work ? If it is a bunch of spores, it can take quite a while, depending on the species, to 'grow' from a spore... sorry to be so anal, I just like to understand what I am doing when it comes to stuff like this.

Myco madness is one of the commercial names. I can't remember very many of them, kelp meal is what really does it in the commercial powders i believe. so you can just get the kelp meal if that's what you want to accomplish. the commercial powders have other added stuff in them to help.

sorry boys... i lost track of this post. but og has it right with the myco madness. i also use tarantula and voodoo juice to grow the roots zone.

og, i didn't realize kelp meal was important in that specific regard. i have always used it, so i guess i didn't really understand all it's benifits. i use neptune's harvest, 0-0-1 i think.
