This morning I was reading about Jodie's visit with Marc yesterday. Marc needs mail, so I think we should get him some.

Some friends and I came up with an idea where we approach the head shops in our communities and ask them if we can put a box on the counter somewhere that people can drop letters into, and donate stamped envelopes if they want.

What we have done on our forum. We had a seed contest where folks were encouraged to mail Marc. Their username was put into a hat and the one that was pulled won the contest.

It would be lovely if the dispensaries here in California had free stationary and postage for American Cannabis patients wanting to write Marc...I'll suggest it at my dispensary today, but I wonder how I could get the message to the hundreds of other collectives and dispensaries?

any Americans out there kow how to make or get a list of the local clubs to approach in your areas?

Maybe we can put together a drop box and offer stationary to attendees of our card holder meetings. I know of some wonderful people that are great letter writers that attend. Let me run it by everybody and see what they say.

There is also a "locator list" for clubs at the top pf the page, but it didn't seem to work too well IMHO - none of my local clubs were found, though they all did appear in the actual printed list, organized by region.

Unfortunately, the California cannaclub landscape changes so rapidly these days this list might be slightly out of date. Be sure to phone ahead before trying to visit clubs, just to double-check they're still in operation at the same location.

I read the poster and now understand the issue better I guess; Marc is in solitary confinement, and reading mail is about his only outside contact or entertainment. What a bummer !

I'd like to write from here in Canada; I don't think I'd use my real address as I don't wish to end up on any US lists. I guess I could use "general delivery" at a post office, or perhaps the address of city hall or something.

What's the rule about "Do not write about illegal activities" ? Would they trash any such mail ? So I can't write that I toke, or that I grow or grew years ago ?

But could I write about the illegal activities of the G20 Black Blok, or of the "allegedly illegal activities" of the police at G20 Toronto ? That's just news, and I'd presume I could attach newspaper clippings of the event. I don't know if newspaper clippings can have photos attached.


Hand-written or hand-typed letters only ? ! Does that mean a real old fashioned typewriter, and that a computer printed letter is not allowed ? Yet, I'd guess that a laser printed letter is virtually indistinguishable from "hand-typed".

I'm happy to write, and I encourage others to do so, but I just hope the rules can be clarified so we don't waste our time and effort to a prison trashcan. Of course they could likely change the rules at any time or make new ones, especially given the previously unknown "violation" that put him in solitary.

Also what I am doing with my letter is numbering each page out of (x) that way Marc will know if some of your pages are missing. It really doesn't matter what you write him, cause even writing to Marc and saying Hi Marc, be well, we support you or something to that effect shows that you care. Jail is a horrible place and even the smallest gesture of support matters, especially if we all do it. Marc fought for us, we can fight for him to.

Read his blogs for full details, they linked from the front page. He is out of solitary, and his only Internet access from what the blogs say, is a prison only email service. Write him, he's got nothing better to do.

He is in the general population again
and uses the prison systems email provider Corlinks which you have to register to use then he accepts you and if the prison system says your OK, then you too can corespond that way till then snail mail is the way to go, yes he appreciates every letter he gets!

Hey All: I just received reply Mail from Marc! It was dated July 4 and he's in fine form! I can almost hear his voice thanking me for writing those Pirates on the Hill and encouraging me to tell everyone to Keep up the Fight until Marc is Repatriated to Canada!

I was thinking that maybe whenever I come across an interesting article on the internet, I could print it out and mail it. Whatever interesting or even amusing stuff I come across, in hopes of helping Marc kill some time in what can't be the most pleasant of environments.

I was reading the article that talks about the mailing rules. In the rules, it says that only one newspaper or magazine article can be included in a letter. It also says that letters must be either hand written or hand typed.

So, what I'm not sure of are the following two things. First, are internet articles that are not clipped out of hard copy publications included in the one-article rule? For instance, what if I copy and paste a few different articles into one Word document and print that out? That brings me to the second question. Does hand typing mean that one has to do it manually on an old style typewriter? I'm thinking probably not, but I want to ask anyways and make sure.

I wondered about that too, but came to conclusion that "hand typed" on a computer keyboard is fine. I'd guess they don't want to have to spend time screening spam type mail.

Based on that, and that I'd guess they don't want to have to read/monitor hundreds of pages, putting too much copy and pasted text from articles might piss off the mail reading "screw"s.

Pissing off the screws would certainly work against the intended result of making Marc's time there more pleasant. I think I'll limit them to the one-article rule just in case.

Iron bars do not a prison make.I'm sure you've heard that, & being a well read person, you could quote me many more. It appears the cracks are well entrenched & “growing” in the laws prohibiting our free use of marijuana.
I have been following the changes & observing the coming tidal wave from a safe distance ( if you can call it that ) here in Sunny Queensland Australia. This country ( 1-10th the population of USA ) was coerced into signing treaties by the USA as you know, now having the same problems foisted upon us too; although many European nations wisely thumbed their noses at it. Ha !. I contacted you once a long while ago , having written a song “grow your own” , a lively bluegrass ! tune. It turned up on a CD compilation of MJ songs down in Nimbin. I'm only a casual user, & like anything it can be overused & abused , but I certainly have enjoyed the creative impetus from it's effects (( We all know )) & I believe strongly in my own free will to choose.

I recently read this fascinating book, Michael Talbot , “the holographic universe” concerning the nature of reality & the universe , & thought you would enjoy absorbing some of it's elucidating content. Although I have found that I cannot send you a copy directly, I hope you can get one, You may have some reading time ahead of you. HA! I have often wondered about quantum physics, the nature of matter & the eternal construct of this universe. The book proposes that the entire universe is a holographic projection of energy, WOW which responds actively to our thoughts. Searching for answers about those things , that thinking people often do, why are we here , who are we , what to do about it; that is, more to life & existence that just a Sunday BBQ. & a few beers.

God , whoever that can be in the countless interpretations that exist , & Jesus , who proclaimed more tantalising clues about heaven & earth, & the ultimate goal of the souls journey. I know you have far more understanding of these machinations than most of us.
Now a political prisoner. Have we a conscience ?, I sometimes wonder........... Mine own is my very best friend / guide.

Couple of weeks ago I found myself wanting to drop Marc a couple of lines just to say Hi, and that so many thousands around the world are so very proud of him. It was important that I, as one person could do ALL I CAN to BRING MARC HOME by writing, calling and drawing attention to the cause and let him know many others were doing same. Educating Others. Was surprised to hear back from Marc yesterday, a handwritten full page letter - filling me in as to his doings and still the clear voice guiding us through his injustice and challenging the moronic drug laws here in Canada. It was unexpected to say the least but it only inspires me to do better. Peace

Go Cat go,that's what I did 12 saturdays ago and I have done it every weekend since.
I have a banner made from a 8 by 12 ft canvas drop cloth from Cantire thats says AMERICA MUST FREE MARC EMERY and five picket signs(2google Marc Emery,1 free Marc Emery,and free and marc on the last two)that I post along a highway near my home. I also have a 4by8sheet of plywood with GOOGLE MARC EMERY NOW on it.

I sit with my signs along highway #4 for two hours every saturday and will continue untill our tyrannt governments return him to his wife and country.
So go for it and make up your signs,they really do say alot so go ahead and educate motorists as they pass by your part of the world.

In the long run, Marc will be exonerated. Legalization may have to wait for our next generation, but decriminalization is already happening and will continue to spread.

I got word this morning that Marc did get this bit of mail and that he misses all of us....

I've been going to write Marc for a while but have kept procrastinating. A couple weeks ago I bought a post card to send him and it sat on my desk until yesterday. Marc's latest blog finally inspired me to write something and mail it out.



Here is a pic of the postcard and yes it was sent from the Hell, MI post office so it should have an official Hell, MI postmark when it arrives. I did take a pic of what i wrote on the other side but i'm not going to post that unless (a) it never makes it to Marc ... or (B) Marc says it's ok for me to post the pic. So for now the message will remain personal. However, i did manage to find a postage stamp with a nice picture of a snow flake ... i thought that was a nice touch

That's perfect, I love the snow flake stamp! I've received my 2nd. letter from Marc. My sign was a success, but stolen. Currently working on new signs (better than the 1st. and one for Prop. 19). ( : FREE MARC!

I plan to write to Marc because after doing some research and watching some videos and etc of his campagin and the way he lived his life and his morals something of this extremity shouldnt happen to our prince of pot. I hope he is able to get through his time peacefully so everyone who hasnt written marc a letter like i plan too please do.

Marc be stronger

This is my first post on here, although I've long followed the case of Marc. I just want to say I'm thinking of him; the people who have jailed him are evil fascists, I cannot think of any other word to describe him.

I was suprised Canada handed him over. I'm in the UK, where we have a kind of romantic image of Canada being very different to the USA, and not doing whatever America asks. Sadly in the case of Emery this is not true.

We have similar troubles over here, with our Government doing whatever America asks, the Iraq War being another obvious example, but I wonder if any of you are aware of the case of Gary McKinnon, a computer nerd who hacked into the Pentagon's computers looking for evidence of UFOs and leaving messages like your security sucks. Gary suffers from Asperger's Syndrome and is absolutely no threat to US security, but they want to lock him up for 30 years. There is more info here http://www.freegary.org.uk/

The last UK Labour Government was definitely going to hand him over, but it's the new Coalition govt. are at least reviewing the case. The last government signed a one way extradition treaty with the USA that made it easy for them to request the extradition of any British citizen, without presenting any evidence in a UK court (it doesn't work the other way round, we can't do that to US citizens).

I pose a question which is a huge concern to me on writing a letter to Marc:

What counts as illegal activity? I am trying to talk about my life and how it lead me down the activism path but it's tough to do without mentioning inhaling marijuana... could someone delve a little deeper on what we can talk about?

Perhaps an american that knows american laws could answer this?

I would not write anything about cannabis use unless you are a medical card holder here in the states. Or you can say Spark for Marc! which could mean anything like sparking a candle for Marc, or Sparking your car for Marc. Maybe you are a twilight fan and you think you are a vampire that SPARKles for Marc during the day light. you know, i don't know.

After watching 'The Union' (I'm not %100 that's the correct name) I was introduced to this site. I think I can be of some help in this, as far as what he can receive, visitation rules, etc... I was a Lieutenant at D. Ray up until 2 years ago. If you have any questions post or feel free to PM me and I will do my best to get you the answer. (I still have access to S.O.P.'s and L.O.P.'s, along with other personal resources.) Please keep any requests legal, for yours and Marc's sake, I will not tell you how to get Marijuana in to him- I'm sorry.
@Bearzerker and FranCouver: I wish I could answer that, although Francouver is correct in that they will move inmates to certain states regarding their nationality, D. Ray is not a designated prison for Canadians, although I'm not sure which is. Their primary designation is Jamaican, Haitian, and Central and South American nationalities. Their security designation though (unless it's changed in the last 2 years) was Medium security, and it was used more as a isolation prison where most level 2-3 inmates go when their in trouble and close to getting a security level increase. I also understand that with federal inmates the U.S. Gov't various justice dept's can decide to move an inmate for undisclosed reasons and publish a very obscure reasoning for the move.

Does anyone have Marc's new address since he's been moved? Where do I send my letters to Marc?

Marc at this time has no address, nor will we know his address until he is in house at that location. As long as he's moving, his mail is chasing him.

Do you think maybe this is one of the reasons "why" he was moved in the first place?

Too many dam letters! Flooding the mail at correctional institutes probably just pisses them off. And, I think our dear Marc forgets he's in prison sometimes.

The curtains have been drawn back and on May 2 they started moving the tables in Canada. I do not want to see the wall but I know its coming.

Marc is now in Yazoo City Correctional Institution in Mississippi, USA. Please send him letters, news updates and photos, there are still some guidelines such as no pot leaf images etc (please see the beginning of this thread.)

I saw what all of you had to type and I agree that we should write letters to Marc. I bet that he's gonna be thrilled to receive mail from just about anyone now since they have him in solitary confinement. Tsk3... I hope all of this gets better soon.

Hey Fran! Yes, please send Marc mail, always! It can be about everyday things in your own life, local news, hockey, whatever!

I send him Canucks game summaries, and online news articles about marijuana-related current events(printed), most of the images get thru fine, but photos of joints, living plants, etc. (unless part of a news article - like stock photography is usually allowed thru) or 'paraphernalia' (no shots of your new bongs, people) are a "no-no".

I sent him a batch of photos printed out from the Toronto Freedom Festival/Global Marijuana March - you can send up to 25 photos in each envelope.

He CANNOT, however, receive books or actual newspapers/magazines, news clippings from individuals, only from a bookstore or publisher, this is the answer I received from Yazoo City FCI mail room after inquiring on how to send Marc his boxes and boxes of books he sent me for safe keeping when they moved him from GA to MS: (Marc is in a "MEDIUM" facility)



I'm looking into opening my own Amazon.com bookstore now, so that way I can send him his books from a "Bookstore"

A friend suggested the name of the store be "BookMarcs"

"Lil Rhody Bookstore" is established and finally sending Marc and other inmates books;

if anyone has something they want him to have, you can send it to my shop and I will forward it to the FCI Yazoo City Prison for you.

Marc can receive hardcover, and softcover books, 5 at a time max, from a bookstore or publisher only (not from individuals).

Lil Rhody Bookstore has been established solely for this purpose: to send Marc and other inmates the books that have been donated so far but were refused by the mail-room at the GEO-run D. Ray James prison.

Now that Marc has been transferred to Mississippi Yazoo City Prison, the books are getting sent successfully through Lil Rhody Bookstore!

Contact me for details if you are interested in getting a particular book to Marc at FCI Yazoo City.

Marc, you didn't receive any kind of fair trial. A fair U.S. trial consist's of being tried by a jury of your peers? Americans are not your peers. Sounds like loop hole to me...has anyone checked the legality of an extradited trial, when only fellow Canadian's are your peers?

marc never had a trial, he made a plea agreement. He agreed to plea guilty to certain charges to avoid a trial, where if convicted would have been subject to life in prison under federal drug kingpin guidelines.

first i would like to thank you for sacrificing yourself by speaking out on a very important issue. secondly i need to show my gratitude for your undying belief that marijuana should be free. yes, i have thought about letting it be controlled yet legal...let the tax man have his incentive and piece of an inflated pie, but they can change that anytime. this is not a solution, just a bandaide. i believe we spoke many years ago about this. i mentioned taking it to the supreme court, i believe you said you had. i just cant believe that three year study by the senate didnt phase parliament. but the supreme court would hold its results in high esteem. especially since some of the guys doing the study were also supreme court judges. duh.
like everyones' being saying, jail is jail. what and where you take your mind is what is important. i have this feeling your okay. 3 years has passed. hump day gone. lol. i think of you almost every week. i think alot of people up here think about you. stay well and may your force go with you, marc emery.

I have indeed mailed Marc and I'm ashamed at what my country has done with this case. Needless to say, Mr. Emery, you've changed the world as we know it and I'm sure will continue to do so when you're free. You're in our prayers.

today's mail contained a reply from Marc written on the back of a splendid portrait, he kneeling and Jodie perched upon his knee, both just beaming!

i mentioned in my last letter to Marc that when Jodie shows photos of them together from IN THERE i just cry.

not today, though. i'm looking at that portrait and grinning right back.

I also got a picture from Jail and also a letter just before new years! Let him know what you're doing to continue his work, he has sacrificed A LOT for us.
