You need to keep the rez temp BELOW 70º

When it gets up to 70º
I am doing something immediately
to bring it back down.

68º is OK, but I like the safety margin of 66º

If you keep the rez cool enough
you will prevent root rot.

Altitude also affects DO
so if you are not on the coast
you need to keep the rez a little cooler.
I am 1000 feet above sea level
many are higher and may even need cooler temps
to achieve the amount of DO needed to prevent disease.

Since your system is all connected
you will need to clean everything with high strength H2o2.

I am going to venture a guess that you are using tapwater
since your pH is so high.

You should invest in at least the $50 RO machine.
This will also help you maintain the correct pH(5.6)

Personally, I don't believe that adding bacteria/fungus to DWC is any benefit.
I used to do it and I have stopped.

I don't use airstones.
I like the bigger bubbles you get
from just the hose alone.

I've never grown DWC in round buckets,
just the square walmart tubs.

SOG works well with two plants in a 10 gl tub
with 8 gls of nutes.

I like to have 3-5 gls per plant
to maintain more stability in the nutes.

I also use the 18gl tubs
and grow 4 plants with about 12 gls of nutes.

If you can't keep the temps cool enough
then you might consider turning your buckets into hempy buckets
and then temperature is not a problem.

What does hempy buckets mean? I am in a warm climate that is difficult to cool. This sounds attractive, but I don't know what it means.

Hempy buckets look great, but I am so tired of working with my soil that im soo intregued by DWC, I want to use a 400w MH in my dresser grow, but worried about rez temps.

Any ideas? OTHER than Hempy buckets blah

shit... I never looked at this thread again... till now.

I didn't realize that 6.2 was to high, I thought 6.2 was the ideal ph.

I was using tap water, We have awesome water here. it's 7.0 and tastey cold in the winter, all fresh water, no purified sewage.

I've since went to dirt farming, it's so much easier, but it may be due to the fact that it was my 2nd grow.

The altitude here is 3600 feet.

Taking your advice to heart, I'm going to try and set up another small test DWC system in my next grow room (fuck this small apartment, I'm moving into a sweet little 3/2 house on december 1st) where I'll have much much more room to play with my garden.

I might just try some veggies in a hydro system as practice.

I think I love fresh veggies almost as much as I love weed..

well, Thanks.

gotta run, gotta go play some disc golf in the snow.

Will Pythoff be okay in a DWC system? Additionally, do I need a circulating pump for 5 gallon buckets?

I've never used Pythoff

If you are having root rot problems
the best solution is temp control.

I use a powerhead in a 2gl tub.
