So I just sprouted 8 Seedsman White widow, 5 skunk #1's from sensi seeds, and 3 autoflowers from Nirvana, they've been in soil for 10 days. Closet is 5x2.5, and I have a 400watt MH with 265cfm fan cooling a sealed sun systems hood. another 265cfm fan is handling room exhaust, and a 500 cfm fan is putting air in the room. the 500 cfm is pulling air directly from outdoors, and is blowing directly onto the glass cover of the hood, creating a sort of "protective layer" of cool air over the entire glass surface, so it's not hot at all. I've got the bulb about 7-8 inches from the tops of the plants, and I was wondering if this is too close? temps constantly around 65-73, 24/7 lights. If it makes any difference, using ffof, watering with just a little water every day, when the soil looks dry (not worried about overwatering, this is my 3rd grow and I'm pretty confident that this isn't the case.) In any case, take a look at the pic and let me know what you folks think... if I should back it off, move it closer, whatever the case may be. Thanks for the input!

They look like they are handleing it pretty well, but I would put it at about 14" till they get a little bigger. That might stress them out being that close.

As long as the temp is fine, and there is enough ventilation to dissipate the radiant heat, the light is exactly where you want it, imo. I have always hung mine 6-8" above the plants from day 1. Encourages short internode spaces.

The only thing that got my attention was the part about bringing fresh air from outside. If you dont already, make sure to put some sort of filter on the intake. A big rectangle furnace hepa filter is only a couple dollars. Remove the cardboard frame and chop the filter to size. You are not gonna be a happy camper pulling mold, fungus spores and pests into your room.

Looking good so far. Cant wait for more pictures.

You got a neat little system there. I'm with Panama. Get those lights as close as you can to the seedlings/young plants. I've gone as close as 3" without any cooling, and had excellent results. Just a few inches can make a huge difference in light energy transfer.
Those cups are kinda big. Be sure to let them dry well before rewatering!

Thanks Cannabob! Yeah, I think I've been overwatering just a bit, even though the babies are showing no ill effects... I literally use just a <tiny> bit of water, but when I stuck my finger down in about a half inch, it was still damp at the time I normally water, so I'm adding 12 hours to my water schedule. And Sarva- Thanks for the heads-up man! I just so happened to have a few different ac vent filters sitting RIGHT NEXT to my computer desk, so that was quite easy to handle lol.
