okay thanks for all of your advice will get stuff today...btw is there any way i can get away with using 10" pots? im growing using this setup http://forums.cannabisculture.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1566091&page=1 so it's under 4 1750 lumen cfl's and 2 2700 lumen cfl's... so space is at a premium and everything is low stress bent!

that second photo looks very similar to potassium deficiency... but your plants shouldn't be having that problem so young. Have you been going nuts with overfeeding fertiliser? If you have you may have made your soil toxic so flushing helps and don't feed nutes for a while. You may also have soil PH problems which result in nute lockout. If you've been using straight tap water along with fertiliser this can happen (nb tap water from my tap comes out as 7.7... I have to use "PH Down", available from most hydroponics stores, to get it to 6.5). Get a cheap PH test kit and test the run off (or better still a PH pen... a great investment). If you really want to get technical get a CF meter to measure the nutrient content of the run off (though I suggest you ignore this step... I am just saying it's another way to measure toxicity). Some plants don't like a high nutrient content (what know as high "PPM"). As far as overwatering... yeah I agree with Dave. you could well be doing that. As Dave very wisely says... you need to learn to feel when the pot is heavy with water... and when is light (also top soil normally dries out when it gets dry which is always bit of a givaway) G'luck.
BTW.. I realise CD pretty much said all this in simpler terms. If you have cruddy soil... get some decent stuff. Biobizz Allmix, foxfarm etc etc. I do disagree about 3 gallon pots though being hte minimum (I've seen guys also grow in 2 litre coke bottles with autoflowers). I grow v happily in 1 gallon pots. Depends what size plants you want to grow. Smaller pots = smaller yields and the plants require more feeding. Cheers.
