Could have something to do with the way new users are treated.
From the mind of a MOD: This place used to be a community. Now its more like a few diehards, and a shitload of newbs, who ask the same questions over and over, ad nauseum, or post advertising for Czech Seeds in every single forum.
When was the last time you went to get work done on your car or a place to eat and had a representative try to shit on you or THINK they are better than you?

I agree new users should search the already asked questions or purchase a grow book but this site is loosing members to the afore mentioned site. Oh well. At this time I think the Admins should produce a lil handbook on mod conduct because the hazing that new users face is reminiscent of high school.

Yep, it totally sucks. Not to mention there is an "ebb" and "flow" to the forums. Some periods of time are filled with people posting, and others are not. (for instance, when MESeeds was successful, and the owner was not awaiting extradition, the Magazine and Pot-tv were busy and the forums were PACKED)

When Marc was arrested a TON of growers disappeared out of fear, so did many of the regular posters.

Newbs need to post or they remain strangers. The only way anyone can know a person in a forum is by reading what they write.

What do you, personally, actually do to bring this place together? Serious as dirt. I spend hours answering questions, even stupid ones, or direct people to the correct areas for research. Help them post pics, and videos, or correct/edit their embedding errors. Not to mention, I am gainfully employed, so I do this on my days off.

that's why this place rocks, because of people like you OC and others who i've seen all kinds of replies in so many posts. I've gotten some very good advice from some very knowledgeable people, and i know others have also. If being a member of this forum means getting some asshole replies, it is still worth it because you will get one of these people like OC to come and give you some real help. Now once you receive this great knowledge, you should help others who may need help. Lets get this movement going people.

I have no need or want to bring people to this site, I don't know if you noticed but I direct users to NORML's site. You have posted roughly 52 times more than I in a two year period and are constantly in the shout box ( 3/4 of the time I log in) so as for where you spend your time when your "off" you might want to spend half of said time with your little girl, LOL. I own 3, soon to be four, laundrymats and a tanning facility where I spend 45 mins a day "working" (making bank drops) and I could not think of a bigger waste then campaining for this broken site. I mean come on man you talk big about getting people to come here but you run off more than you recruit and you like it. This site probably was great in the hay day but now people come here to be silenced, shut up if it bothers them, act out at the PROXY "person" on the other end doing the hazing makes them mad, but, one thing is common, they all just use the site for info. This is not the only site that has info (not to say its good all the time lol) on pot. If this site was a "FAMILY" like some like to mislead then I think all users would be accepted and spoken to like a human. Derogatory terms like newb isn't going to get users "activated" or loyal or for that matter garner YOU respect. Nor does censoring posts and supposedly an unmodderated shout box.

Yawn. again. I've been in lots of family discussions. Love isn't the only way people get along. Once again, you say, you don't care about this website, but then whine how you are supposedly treated.

Personally, it if weren't for oldtree and frmrgrl, I would have never come back here. Oc, you're a pretty cool guy. We talked some about a year ago when I first came to the site and yu were very informative... even though I asked some pretty ignorant question, but at that time I was ignorant. I think this forum is as good; if not better than most.

Really, it doesn't matter where you go, on the net or in real life, you will always encounter some ass who, just wants to be an ass. That's life. And just so it's clear, I'm not knocking this site or anyone here specifically. In fact, I like where this thread is going. There is more positive than negative coming from our posts here, that, IMO... is a good sign that we all pretty much want the same thing here.

I have always looked at this site as a resource. The people are equally such a resource if not more so. Like all websites, there's a randomness to the personalities of the group. That's what makes it fun. That's what makes it important. There used to be people in here, making plans to disrupt politics as usual on a daily basis. Either vocally, editorially, or in person and in your face, everyone was "doing something."

Can't have a rally without a group who can stand each other and are willing to stand together in rain, or snow, or in the face of armed opposition. That's when you find out who are your real supporters.

There isn't so much to do like that in the winter months. People lose track, or lose interest, or go back to school, and the group evolves. Some people's health really restricts what activism they can accomplish outside of their homes. This place, and places like this, are resting places.

You don't change laws without butting heads. There is every type of political or religious, or ANTI religious viewpoint around these forums. Some people are not quite stable, and their posts are rife with anger and frustration. Some of the prima donnas are just boring, or so interested in themselves, they fail to realize that theirs is not the only viewpoint on that subject.

Some pontificate, some are space popes, some are Oracles, and some are probably certifiable geniuses, probably an equal number are raving mad. I actually do respect and enjoy interacting with the majority of the CC forum members. If I don't want to answer a 'ignorant question" I will usually point in the direction the answer lies. Not all guests want to interact at the same level, and that's great. Different strokes for different folks.

So let's not stop now, there's plants to grow, and hash to sieve, and buds to smoke while we continue to rally the troops and OVERGROW the WORLD!!

And you're right about the winter restricting some peeps. It's a statistical fact that people in bad health struggle the most during the cold months. It's just the way our physiology is.

Yea this place has been very helpful to me and tranforming myself from a complete newb a year ago, to someone who has a good handle on atleast the basics. enough to get by and grow some nice smoke. I don't have all the money in the world to put into growing cannabis, but i try. plant by plant. I may only grow 1 or 2 at a time, but i take it all in and learn from mistakes. One day when i have enough money to splurge and get a nice big grow going i believe this site has been helpful enough that i shouldn't run into very many problems at all. hopefully none, but thats a stretch. almost every grow encounters 1 small error or another.

All-in-all this site, in my opinion, is the greatest on the net. Founded by the greatest man in my country, Marc Emery!

Overgrow the government! ....or better yet as OC said, the world!


and yes, some ppl can be assholes, but just gotta deal with it haha. it's just the internet after all.


Also, i just noticed this forum is located in 2 spots? General growing and socializing lounge? lol although general growing is a little delayed on who last posted on my screen. weird, just thought i would point that out.
