Ok so I was told some inaccurate information about the appropriate light cycle for my plant during the Veg stage. It's been getting a 12/12 light cycle for 2 weeks now and Im wanting to change it to a 18/6 light cycle tomorrow(12 hours). Will this stress the plant out or cause long term damage? Thanks for your help.

They should be fine, however, a ton of information is missing. It would help to know are they seeds, or clones. How tall are they, how long have they been growing? soil or hydro, what kind of lights HPS, MH, Flouros, LED's, etc.etc.

thanks for the fast reply. I used a seed and it's about an inch and a half tall in soil. Im using CFL's. It's 2 weeks old...

you should be able to switch the lights to 18/6 or 24 with no problem. Once they stagger their leaves they are mature enough to switch to 12/12 to bud.
