My current Hempy's. Been experimenting with 1 gal, and 2 gal. I think I like the two gallons, vegged for 4 weeks under t-5s, then put in under 1k next to my SCROG. All are on organic nutes. Never heard of this before Earl posted this thread, now this is my second go round.

In the two gallon white buckets we have Kryptonite, and Purple Who.

And in these 1 gal, we have Sour Grape and OG Kush

I wonder with Hempy Buckets if you still have to aerate your water before you add it to the plants?

It would need to be aerated first

So how much water/food do you add to your 5 gallon buckets per feeding? At least they look like 5 gallon buckets. I know you said earlier until it runs out the bottom hole but what does that normally equal to?

I mix up my nutes in a one gallon plastic milk jug.
I check the tds and the pH
and then I feed about two or three plants
with this single gallon.
I run 6 plants
so I use one gallon every day
feeding two or three plants.

OK.. I know this thread is a little old but I just LOVE this idea.... Iam a soil grower but am getting kinda tired of having to buy or "try" to steralize/re-use my dirt, The money is really tight right now and this setup is absolutley PERFECT for what I need....

I have only a couple of questions if someone doesn't mind givin' me an experienced honest answer (like ya'll do.. smile )

First, since money is tight and I have no hydro stores anywhere local, can I use MiracleGro All Purpose for veg. at 1/4 strength for the first few feedings then start with a mix of 1/4 + 1/2 strength mixed. Then switch to bloom booster (MG) after they've been into 12/12 for about 4-6 wks, using same mixing method as veg, of course after a GOOD flush???

and Second, instead of coco plugs could i just use Jiffy pellets???

Thanks and GREAT thread
-TF

I think Jiffy pellets will work ok in the perlite.

I am not sure how well you will do with miracle grow.

Miracle grow is not hydroponic food
as it is lacking certain micro elements.

This method of growing is best
if you use hydro nutes
and hydro meters(pH and TDS)
and RO water.

I had peat (Jiffy) pellet in hempy buckets and had pH issues, which I believe were caused by the peat. I think peat acidifies as it decomposes.
It may also have been user error, but it seemed to be better when i did not pH down my solution.
