I have a big question.

The nute schedule I have been using says that I should start tapering off in order to harvest in about three weeks.

The buds don't look ready, in fact, if they are at full size I am getting rid of this strain.

However, I have a pocket microscope and the white hairs coming out of the flowers don't have any trichomes visible. There are some tiny fibers all over them but no clear "bubbles".

Should I start reducing the nutes or should I hold the current level until I see trichome production at least begin?

Rhizome is the roots.
You are probly referring to Trichomes.
Keep feeding them until they are fat.
Some strains will take longer than others.
Trichomes should be on the leaves and calyx'

So since I am at my max recommended nute level you think I should just hold tight until the big fat trichomes show up?

Youve got a LONNNNG way to go by looking at the pics. How many days flowering? 25? You Need to wait until you grow buds before you think about harvesting.

Well that's really my question. Should I ignore the feeding schedule? If I won't get bigger buds than these I will be disappointed.

This is day 38 since I changed the light schedule and switched to a flowering mix liquid nutrient. However this is only 9th day since the flowers first appeared. So which is it 38 days or 9 days? I think 9, but I can't increase the nutes anymore since it is at a pretty high concentration now.

9 days of flowers is 9th day of flowering. Roughly 60 days flowering for most hybrids which aren't autoflower or ruderalis based. You have been on 12/12 for 38 days, 29 of which the plant didn't flower? What lighting are you using? What distance. What is the DAYTIME temp in the space, what size pot, are you using soil?
