Can or will the NDP ever win a federal election?

From my understanding of previous faux-paus on a provincial level, it is almost an unwritten rule that the NDP shall never hold governance over the domain of Canada. This is where my thinking of a split-off faction renamed and re-branded be born. All the good NDP ideas and values, minus the typically fiscally irresponsible actions.
I am all about making change, sometimes change comes hard and strong...that is what we need now. A NEW movement, a NEW culture, a YOUTH movement the likes of which have NEVER been seen before...these are the keys.
There are just too many voter that simply will NOT EVER vote NDP to make any kind of serious run.
With the youth motivated, however, anything is possible.

I'm just talking from normal experiences and conversations with NDP and non NDP voters...the NDP has a bad rap for finances and plenty of other smaller issues. Maybe things can turn around with some fresh-faces, new policies, and a huge youth outreach approach. Something has to give, the NDP caucus as a whole has turned their back on the issues that provided them with their initial appeal. Layton is not doing the party any favors lately either...
Just because something is hard, doesn't mean it is not worthwhile or do-able. Plus the bonus of no pre-existing baggage from a dying party and all that entails.
