Wow, that's a very lame reason to deny you entry! What's with all this border stopping?

we had reservations at the Delta right on hastings, right near the HQ, i was looking forward to it so much! i guess next time im gonna have to contact the consulate and go through all that hassle

this is a well known problem, which is why many bands can't tour up here. A girl I know in Santa Cruz got around this by flying into Vancouver directly last year, and airport customs for some reason doesn't care about DUIs. There's also a ferry from Seattle to Point Roberts/Victoria I think you could try.

the US border has the same law, if you're a Canadian with a non-pardoned DUI you can't drive across or go by bus/rail either.

yeah it was definitely not fun. next time i will probably fly in after contacting the consulate anyway just to make sure, i do not want to go through that again hah. the customs guys were searching most people's stuff hardcore and were honestly dicks

Dont believe that the customs at the airport are any more lenient, for one minute, for any reason. It all depends on the individual customs officer, and what they decide to do..

I went through this same bullshit, 'cause I had been arrested for 2-4 oz's of weed, 7 years prior.. Went through a whole lot of crazy stuff to get here, but dont have probs at the (drive across) border, anymore..

Get a temp permit to travel, to Canada, documentation that says you have a job, or other real reason to return back home, after your stay.. They mainly dont want people coming, and staying, illegally, and, of course, dont want "undesirables", like myself, in this perfect lil no crime, no gangs, place, called Canada. You would think that they have bigger fish to fry, but, then again, Marc Emery is "the most dangerous man in Canada".. (isnt that what was said? haha)

So me and my Fiance won a 2 Night 3 day stay for free in like 23 stupid locations except for one that caught our eye... Beautiful Vancouver! We are determined to stay longer than the 2night but its free and we cant complain. We have been avid readers of CC for a year now, and want to know Is Vancouver gonna be everything we think it will be? We want to be able to go up there and sample the lifestyle and the goodness and we are really serious about trying to make the move there eventually from Texas to Canada for good. Any info you can give me would be greatly apprecaited.

i decided to move to vancouver one minute after i got out of the cab from the airport...it's a pretty good city in a great part of the world, but it can be disappointing too...there's too much homelessness and hard drugs and gang crime and greed and sex for sale and traffic and dogshit...i guess it comes with the territory

so for sure check us out as a place to move...maybe you should visit toronto too (it's very clean and it's got a vibrant pot scene)

Well it seems that we will be looking into Toronto then, thanks for actually answering my question. What i would like to know is what are the laws in Toronto on growing, possesion, are there shops there?
