Well, the question of prices is definately tied to location, among other aspects that you mention. The more harsh the prohibitionist censure and the more harsh the penalties in your area, the more you can expect to pay. Pot from a personal grow doesn't necessarily cost more than pot from any other operation. In fact, it can cost a lot less if it is YOUR personal grow! It is quality that counts, smell, flavour, chrystally appearance and overall high figure prominently. In my opinion, whether the sacrament is organic or not should also figure prominently, but it doesn't seem to be as important to price on the open market.

interesting topic tim. ive been smoking since mid 80s ,when i started the price was 75 bucks for a oz. now icould get commercial bud red haired mex (ok buzz for 100a oz.) for quality nice kind nuggets 100 a quarter and if you can find someone that will part with quantity 275to 300 a oz if hes your buddy. this is a great reason to self propagate your own buds, not to mention unfortunately by nature of the game sometimes dealing with the underbelly and suspicious characters that give me the hebe gebees. i would be interested to here from others on price . i live in south east usa and i know of certain farmers in there 50s and 60s who have turned to propagation to try to make a living farming due to the usa farmers plight . some of these folks have never even fired up. anyway in my opinion price is completely dictated by risk of grower and the fact that people got to have it . basic business maybe one day the government will wise up and start taking their cut from the right end of the business.

In British Columbia, Canada, you can expect to pay as low as 200 an oz (that's Canadian!) for high quality bud ... s'long as you know someone. 1/8's go for about $40 CAN, and 1/4's go for as low as $70. Of course, if you buy schwaggy bud off of the street you can look forward to shelling $10 for a dime bag the size of your pinky nail.

Schwaggy (Adjective). Pronounciation: Shwag-ee. Variation: Schwag (Noun). A derogatory adjective or noun used to refer to low-quality marijuana. Cannabis bud that is loose, lacking in density, sometimes with seeds, a high proportionion of leaf matter, and stems showing within the bud itself. ie (Adjective form): "I wouldn't pay 5 bucks for that schwaggy bag of leaves and stems!" ie (Noun form): "Man, that bud was shitty schwag! I shouldn't have paid ten bucks for it ..."

From Washington State at a local bar where quality (meaning strength mostly) is important the price is $40 to $55 an 1/8 which is less than an eighth (it is what you get). Just the other day someone said that they had White Widow at $200 an ounce. They said the high was good but not great. I guess that means probably not White Widow. We see alot of different types locally and the quality is good but now that I visited Vancouver it is definitely a notch or two lower.

I've been smoking since 67, $130 a kilo back then. Now in the North East NY $100 for an oz of commercial or $90 for a quarter of something good, but you have to know someone. The number of prisons in the area ARE A CONSTANT REMINDER OF THE DANGERS. Just got back from a week in Amsterdam, "wow" just sitting in a coffee shop and seeing everybody around you rolling was a joy.Maybe next year i'll make it up to vancouver.
