The only things on that list that I end up making any money from are the articles, the artwork and possibly the Museum if the city ever gives us an occupancy permit. The rest is either for free or costs me money. I didn't even mention the postering and hiring of bands for the rallies in 2005, 2006 and 2007 that also cost me money.

If being asked questions in a discussion forum is holding someone back from becoming an activist - how good an activist are they?

One of the primary functions of an activist is being able to handle debate without letting criticisms destroy them - another area where I feel I set a good example.

I've never avoided telling fellow activists - friends or not - when I think they're doing something counter-productive ... and I never will avoid doing such things. It's not the way I roll, and a lack of debate is bad for the movement.

I have always reinvested most of my pay back into pot activism. You obviously don't know me at all. Please start leading by example and show me the type of activist I should become by being that activist yourself. You live in California and have a medical license and are operating under an Obama administration for at least four years if not eight ... you should be able to accomplish all the things you expect of me with less hassle than I would encounter myself.

i haven't been following this thread but i read the last few pages and i am dismayed at these attacks on david and his activism

i first met david in 1993 when he was working behind the counter at the original hempbc store...over the years, david has helped organize most of the pot rallies in vancouver, operated several streetfront activist outlets, and fought city hall to the federal government from the lowest to the highest courts in the land

from what i could tell, david has always put his cannabis activism ahead of his personal needs...he worked tirelessly through sickness and personal distress, taking the occasional brutal beating by cops, and bearing up under the near constant threat of imprisonment...through it all, i never saw david lose his temper or throw his hands up in despair

i do not understand why you guys are personally attacking david...aren't we on the same mari-team here? criticizing his activism strategy is ok but why portray david as some kind of evil enemy of cannabis? it's just not true
