http://whyprohibition.ca/user/registerWe need everyone's help if we're going to stop Stephen Harper from instituting Mandatory Minimum sentences for Marijuana! Harper has proposed 6 month mandatory jail terms for growing 1 marijuana plant! 9 months mandatory jail terms if you grow 1 marijuana plant in a rented house! And a 12 month mandatory minimum jail term for making hash! 18 Months in jail if you make hash in a rented house! A year and a half in jail for making bubble, budder, kif or oil! If this bill passes we will see more gangs making more money from marijuana that is far more expensive. We will soon be planning protests across Canada to oppose C-15, but we need your help! Join WhyProhibition.ca today at http://whyprohibition.ca/user/register and join up with thousands of Canadians in opposing is immoral and dangerous bill C-15. WhyProhibition.ca will allow us to help you automate letters to your MP (1 click! And it will know who your MP is for you!) Provincial and even city officials! As well, it will automate sending it letters to the editor and make finding out about protests much much easier! We're adding new functionality every day! Check back often! Stay tuned to WhyProhibition.ca for news, activism resources and more! Join today! http://whyprohibition.ca/user/register

WhyProhibition.ca will be a comprehensive grass-roots activism portal for Canadian legalization activists. WhyProhibition.ca will employ the most advanced web infrastructure available to accomplish this goal, including:
Information and Content:
WhyProhibition.ca consists of a multi-user blog which enables selected users to post news articles and new research to the website itself. The goal of the blog feature is to create an outlet for activists to publish their works and for others to learn from them. The other goal of the blog is to attract visitors to registering an account to get involved. The blog feature allows for more effective mass dissemination of information, as each blog post has simple buttons for users to “forward” the post to social networking site (Facebook, Myspace, etc), social media sites (Digg.com, Fark.com, etc) as well as Canadian blogging aggregates (progressivebloggers.ca).
Location Awareness:
Users of WhyProhibition.ca will input their postal code into the site upon joining. This allows for the automation of a number of tasks within the site. Location awareness allows WhyProhibition.ca to create maps to events, automate form letter sending, for breakdowns by region and much much more! WhyProhibition.ca will create a new level of interactivity between the online world the the real world, enabling better and more effective activism.
Letter Writing:
WhyProhibition.ca will host an almost unlimited number of form letters to be sent to all levels or select levels of government. This will enable WhyProhibition.ca to host form letters for users to send, via the site, to politicians on any number of specific issues, national or provincial. For example, a user logs into the site and wants to send a letter in opposition to C-15. That user is then presented with an already written letter for him or her to edit. WhyProhibition.ca will know the users MP, MLA, city representatives even local media already because of the location awareness feature. The user simply has to select the recipients by title (My MP, My MLA, All MP, All MLA, etc) and the rest is done for them. For Letter to the Editor writing, this will allow for the user to choose between Local, Provincial, National or All Media and WhyProhibition.ca will direct the messages for them. WhyProhibition.ca will make sending emails to politicians and media simple.
Communication:
WhyProhibition.ca will employ the most advanced communications framework of any advocacy website in Canada. WhyProhibition.ca will integrate with social networking, email, Instant Messaging and SMS (Mobile Text) messaging. Additionally WhyProhibition.ca will integrate with the Google toolset (Maps, Calendar, etc) to provide real-time updates to mobile devices such as Blackberry and iPhone. This near-instant communication ability will serve as an effective counter to last-minute announcements by politicians who give little or no advanced notice in order to avoid protesters. WhyProhibition.ca will enable real-time mobilization of activists across Canada.
Direct Action:
WhyProhibition.ca is an incredibly powerful activism tool. For example, let's use the December 17, 2007 anti-C26 protest (over 100 locations across Canada). National organizers will be able to send out mass-communications from WhyProhibition.ca via any or all methods of communication. Each recipient will receive a customized message based upon both their location and type of device. For instance, a mobile user will receive a google-map complete with location of the protest, and if enabled on their phone, their GPS location (This GPS function will occur offsite, WhyProhibition.ca will have no access to GPS), complete with directions to the protest. For the home user, the map will be based upon their postal code. Users calendars will also be updated with the event, including time. Reminders can be set from the site, so organizers can, the night before, set a reminder to be sent out in the morning to attendees. WhyProhibition.ca makes planning and attending protests easier.
Organizing:
WhyProhibition.ca will allow users to be grouped by location and by activities, allowing for more efficient organization of activists. For example, Chris Goodwin wants to plan a rally in Toronto. We set up a newsletter with all Toronto activists, an event, and group page, and integrate both with the existing membership. Chris is then able to communicate with the Toronto area activists directly and organize events, send out mass-communication within his group, add members, and utilize any other part of the site. This allows for a truly distributed organizational structure but with the inherent efficiencies of scale of centralized organization. WhyProhibition.ca makes organizing campaigns and protests easier and less time consuming.
Overall:
WhyProhibition.ca will provide scalable functionality that is sorely needed in the anti-prohibition activism community. For organizers, there will be seemless integration of advocacy, event planning, communications and interaction. For activists, WhyProhibition.ca will simplify online and offline advocacy by providing seemless communication with organizers, Government representatives and media. WhyProhibition.ca will serve as a central repository for research materials, advocacy materials such as flyers and posters. WhyProhibition.ca functions to make everything we do easier.

Yeah! there are some interesting articles. Thanks to Ellis Worthington! Be sure also to sign up at Progressive Bloggers so that you may vote on articles moving them to the fore in popularity ranking. This is the final battle: either idiocy will prevail in Canada and we will further criminalize people with bill C-15 who choose life over the death of alcohol, or we will have sanity prevail finally.I am going to write something more in depth on being a Free Man/Oracle on the Land and post it on my Blog. There is kernel of joyous warmth in my gut replacing what once was fear of criminal sanction. A smidgen of pride where once was the shame/guilt of oppression. It is a wondrously precious state of being which money can't buy. Honestly, there is a spring in my step that I rather enjoy! It is time for all of us to share/revel in this joy of freedom. I swear it is as worth attaining, as your next breath! You can be assured that this battle is worth fighting with every ounce of your spirit for what the victory will give you back personally in growth, never mind any altruistic rewards/goals for others. This feeling is akin to that I felt standing on the border reflecting Sunlight into the USA with a mirror in 2002. It makes me feel like I have Supernatural Spiritual Strength (SSS). You have to try to achieve this spiritual well being for yourselves, it is a rare precious treasure to be able to join with Gia and help make our planet healthy!

Hey Everyone! WhyProhibition.ca is adding new features every day, and I wanted to let you know about one which is going to make sending emails a lot easier. By now most of you are familiar with our form emailer (http://www.whyprohibition.ca/content/vote-no-bill-c-15), well, it now integrates fully with our accounts! The forms are filled out based on the data in your account, which is all kept private! So, you no longer have to fill out forms, simply make sure your account information is up to date, and you're 1 click away from emailing Parliament! All the data in your account info is kept private and will only be used internally on WhyProhibition.ca. We've had almost 500 emails go out over the last 6 days, but we need thousands more! I encourage all of your to invite your friends, family, coworkers, etc to send in letters as well! If they don't have an account, sign them up! Signup: http://whyprohibition.ca/user/registerEmail Parliament: http://www.whyprohibition.ca/content/vote-no-bill-c-15WhyProhibition.ca will be adding new features over the next week, including social networking features like “Friends” and “Groups”. We plan on integrating groups heavily with location awareness, so individuals will be part of their Province group, and their City group, all automatically. From there, we'll be able to better organize and coordinate our local actions and national actions! WhyProhibition.ca is expanding every day, keep checking back for more new features! And don't forget to email our MP's to tell them NO on C-15!
