I never said there was no strict controls. I was trying to point out there was no government monopoly on weed sales. I have a problem with the Dutch government closing down cafes that are too close to schools but I don't have a problem with them shutting down cafes that are used to sell hard drugs or allow gangs to commit other "with-victim" crimes.

What makes you think activists would not attempt to fight over-regulation?

I just find it interesting that DML is the only one who does not use insults and negative nicknames for those he is conversing with, and instead remains level-headed, calm, and rational, able to back up all of his talking points without degenerating into childish mud-slinging as his attackers like to do. In fact, he seems to be the only sane one here.

By the way, change the words "Drug dealer" to "Flower salesman" and the entire perspective changes! Amazing how propaganda brainwashes people into hating and/or being afraid of certain words!

Wherever there is government involvement, political motives come into play eventually. As a matter of fact, BC and Holland have something in common, a multi billion dollar illicit drug trade complete with money laundering operations in country. Holland`s neighbors in Europe are not very pleased that the Dutch are not just tolerant, but obviously happy to collect taxes on all that laundered money. There is one slight, but significant difference.
I haven`t ever heard of any loony Dutch drug dealers flaunting themselves at France or Germany or wherever their profits originate. I`ll certainly commend the Dutch for refraining from creating Holland`s version of ME. You do know that the Dutch would frown on that?
