I analyzed the early specs of the LIFI, the 6400K model with 250w max and 35Klm.
It must be confirmed for the final specs, and i expect more complete ones when they start selling it on a final configuration. There are some questions they must explain way better, as the losses on the RF unit, degradation with aging, etc.
But it seems a very good technology, with excelent energy efficiency: 52% of burned watts emited as PAR watts (38% for best HPSs), about 40% more efficients than 600w HPS.
It produces 16 uE/Klm, similar lo sunlight (12 for HPS), 240lm for each PAR watt.
But it has some weak points for using it as growing light: spectrum distribution not seem optimal at all, with a Red/Blue ratio of 2.5, typical of vegging lights. Just 22.6% of PAR on the red side (over 600nm) appear too bluish for a flowering light.
Phytochrome stationary equilibrium is 0.78, on the limit of what botanist consider valid for growing lamps (0.75), and far for equilibrium on most used growing lamps: all MH, HPS and floros are over 0.8 and most of them over 0.84. It may result on delayed flowering and more stretching than with current used lights.
But probably the increased efficiency compensate for it, but surely it wont work fine as only source of lighting on flowering. But it should work very well together with a HPS lamp.
Im very interested on your results if you take a unit, krimzon. Please report your opinion on this lamp if you test it.
