Yeah.. Our homes are so insanely packed with electronics today. Nearly everyone has a cellphone, atleast 2 or 3 computers of various ages and types, TVs of various ages and types, Cable/satellite recievers, and in some houses all of these things are wired into the house via miles of different types of electrical cables, (otherwise known as a smart house)where you can walk around your home with a giant remote and control ANYTHING in your house you want to..you dont think AAAALLL that bullshit puts up a pretty heavy RF footprint? Law inforcement CAN NOT use RF detecting equipment to bust your grow..it would be EXTREAMLY unreliable.. not to mention, like has been stated here, it is federal law that any device putting out a certain amounts/frequencies of Radio Waves BE SHIELDED..

some people are so freaking retarded..

Krimzon, rock on man. =)

Excellent points mate, thanks for the post! I'm sure the retardation is genetic and the people can't help themselves! ;\)

As you all know by now I like to stay up to date with lighting technology, so just when you thought LED was the greatest thing, Luxim surprises us with some spectacular developments on the plasma lighting front.

Check this out please.

Thank you for your interest in our energy efficient LIFI light sources.

I have attached the product bulletin for our street and area product line. There are currently two light sources in this family, targeted for use in applications that currently use 400W metal halide. The LIFI STA 40-01 is typically used in street and area applications where energy efficiency is the primary focus, as the source operates at 120 lumens per watt, at a CRI of 80. For applications where color rendering is very important, such as with architectural lighting, we have a number of companies that will prefer the LIFI STA 40-02 with a CRI of 96, still operating at 106 lumens per watt.

The LIFI STA product family is in the later stages of development now. The initial release was oversubscribed so the next availability will be from the beta build coming up next month. Development kits (which include lamp, power supply, and supporting materials to provide an operational lamp and means of evaluating its performance within a lighting fixture) are for sale for $1000 USD. If you are interested let us know and we will provide a formal quotation for you. Production release is planned for Q1. Some customers have already announced plans to bring lighting fixtures to market in Q1 based on their work with the alpha product release over the last few months.

Production pricing will be volume based, so costs will depend on what your potential use will be. Our initial component cost will be higher than current 400W metal halide lamp/ballast/starter, but in a well designed system customers anticipate that the increased efficacy and point source advantages will provide a more cost effective and higher performing system that pays back the higher up front cost relatively quickly. I have attached some application examples showing the energy and maintenance savings possible with our sources.

If you would like to see some of these materials please private message me. I would like to keep hard copies of that data off the board for the time being.

This gives me sufficient information to finally procure one of the Luxim Plasma Lighting systems to finally test.

did they give you any technical specs on what would come for $1000? What type of wattage would that use?
