Hey Paul or Big Stinky or whoever has built one, can you tell me how far the net pots need to be from the top of the sprayers? It looks pretty close from what I can tell in the pictures.thanks

6 to 8 inchs should be fine. You want to have the spray from each sprayer passing through each other. Try to get complete coverage

I have scrapped one container due to its leaking.

The inverted top on this particular container helps.
But I still need to play with it. Duct tape?

Hello, everyone!
Sorry if I'm intruding on anyone's space I don't mean too this just seems a very helpful place.
I'm trying to build a cloner... and you all seem to know the most from all the places Ive read on the web

Okay here is the question...
I bought a tote and am trying to figure out how determine the kind of pump,(from reading I think I'm looking at a mag drive).
The area on the top of my 16 gal(I think that is what it is) is 17.5 x 12 inches on top... I figured i could fit 135- 1 inch holes, 57- 3/4 inch holes, or 39- 2 inch holes... to stick clones in. I drew up a couple of different sprayer configurations and i have decided on one it is 28 heads(is that too much)(how close are the heads spaced)... I think i want to use .5 inch PVC (most popular)but am open to suggestions..
also, how would i go about finding GPH size (I read its 8gph per head is this right?) Also I was thinking of getting a larger pump like ~2000 GPH and connecting 8 totes together(or 9, 16 gal(they are 6 $) with pvc that way having a central reservoir... I would have to suspect that the pressure would decrease drastically from the pump.

Fist off would i be better on what size? 1 inch 13/4 inch or 2 inch holes?

Second the pump pick and how does that affect if i tie multiple connections together... (also is there a way i can alternate flow with valves that can open and close automatically? that you have used) say 4 on at once then 4 on after that in different intervals or is that a bad idea? (that way i only need one pump)
getting long...

Also would just be better off buying a much bigger tote! I want the biggest set up i can for the stuff i would like to clone

I would really not like to use trial and error that is why i have turned to you in order to create a very good functioning cloner the first time.

Please feel free to say anything you would like about this post.
I will show pics of the final product?
HElp!? Please

pool noodles and other foamy type pool toys are great alternatives to expensive neoprene collars, just use a hole saw and cut your own smile

Hello All,

I just finished my cloner thus far and figured I'd post what I've got...

This is the Roughneck tote I started with

The top, flipped upside down to help the fit

The power cord threaded through a small hole in the top

Notches cut in the tote to accept the shock cord, helps keep the top tight.

The shock cable tied in two knots

Shock cable in place

The spray system - powered by a 700 series mag drive

The foam weather seal that helps keep from having any leakage

This is as far as I have finished. At the moment the unit is running, to be sure there are no leak issues.

Tomorrow I will cut the holes and the foam plugs.
