Biography:
David Bratzer is committed to social justice, public safety and community development. He is campaigning for school board trustee of the Greater Victoria School District (SD #61).
In 2008, he became one of the first serving police officers in North America to call for an end to the failed War on Drugs. In 2009 and 2010, he testified against "tough on crime" legislation in Ottawa before the Senate Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs. His advocacy occurs off-duty and his views do not represent those of his employer.
He’s passionate about education. You can often find him in the audience of School District 61 board meetings, and this year he organized a youth scholarship program for the IdeaWave conference. He is active in civic affairs as the secretary of his neighbourhood association.
In his spare time, he enjoys running, watching TED talks and eating way too much chocolate.
