Hermaphroditic male flowers don't always show up as "balls". They often appear as yellow spikes affectionately(?) called bananas. Bananas can show up in the most obscure places....nature will find a way...

Great depictions of Herm's. Wish I'd seen these before last week.

So how big did that plant end up being, and how many seeds came off it in the end?

Point, in my experience fem seeds are a accident ready to happen Just looking for a excuse to Hermy on you. You put alot of time and money into a veg grow and then it is time to flower and bam Hermy.

I find it more stressful waiting for sex with female seeds. one big reason, shit the cost. I would grow those seeds as a extra and what ever I got would be cake. But that is not your case.
See what happens, maybe you will get lucky. But I would rethink about doing it again.I Have been there and have been burnt.
I have grown from seeds from a female my own plants, once never again.
Just my 2 cents.

Many seed producers, IE. The big names don't just take a female plant and stress it to produce seeds. There are several different ways to get 100% female seeds and alot of the big seed companies use these methods. If you are growing from hermie seeds there are products available to eliminate male flowers.

It is alot more involved then stressing a female plant into growing balls and having a shit load of female seeds. That is more of a breeding and genetics question. That I am not experienced in.
It takes time to produce stable female seeds this way.
There are fem seeds on the market today that have not been thru the test of time and are not stable, good quality fem seeds.

read a little more down the line before you jump in

Every one of those ways involves getting a female to grow male flowers. Ya gotta have hermie pollen to make a feminized seed.
Any way you shake it, changing from one sex to another represents stress.

Yes, but "better living through chemistry" is not the answer.

You are eventually consuming whatever you spray on your plants.

Hermie flowers are part of Cannabis growing. Embrace them, don't hate them.

Ever eaten seedless water-melon? Same concept, marijuana is not the only plant to have hermies. The spray reverse by dutchmaster is good to have around. I mean I am not to keen on using it and I think of it as cheating, yet I still like to keep it around. Also there are other-ways to get female seeds. One method, and I don't know the exact way using silver titrate and an electric charge. It literally wipes the gene from the seed. Also through selective breeding, some small percentages of plants in a crop like 1 in a thousand are female and can not hermaphrodite under any circumstance, and thus are absolutely immune to becoming hermied

The plant I posted was 3ft tall at harvest, produced 15 seeds, and a couple oz of dried bud.

I cannot comprehend why having a few seeds (from hermie flowers or otherwise) is such a big deal to people. Hermaphroditism is well described in the literature as a survival mechanism in Cannabis; therefore, it is a normal variant.
So what if the sinse crop isn't perfect? We live in an imperfect world.
Besides that, some of the best pot I've ever had has a very high incidence of hermies. Thai & other SE Asian sats for example, have pretty high hermie frequencies, but the high they produce is well worth growing them (imo).
If you get a few hermie seeds, so what? Plant them and enjoy the bud they give you, just don't use them in a breeding project unless you're a skilled breeder.
