You Guys Are So Bad Ass !! Your aero setups have motivated me to build my own. I am using 6" pvc. I have 4 tubes at 5' w/ 7 sites each for a total of 28. My setup is similar to tabcbuds. Brass fittings for the emitters connected to 1/2" pvc running from a 400 gpm hydroponics pump. I have 2" drains going back to the rez.
I am soo close to finishing it, just need some more brass fittings (they never carry enough at home depot), a 40 gal rez, and those 6mm Grommets. I will take pics to share when it is completed and setup in the grow room.
Earl, Tabcbud, asiantoker, and all other aero masters that I gained info from : A BIG THANK YOU!

Glad to see another convert cali buddz

I think you are going to find the 400gph a touch too small for your system

I would recommend the 1800 or 2400 gph
for that many emitters.

Take some pix,
show your grow.

ok, i will go for the 2400 gph.
every thing is ready to roll, all i need now is those grommets and net pots (i have them on order at local hydro shop). they should be here tuesday eve. I have a 37 gal rubbermaid that i chose due to unavailability of anything more durable. So i went ahead and binded it up with 2 layers of duct tape. i then wrapped the entire bin with ducting wrap insulation (1/2"thick) and binded that with flex duct wrap. it should hold up to the amount of water that will be going into it. i also have space blanket insulation that i will wrap over it in the morning. should i do the same to the 6" pipes??? i will keep you guys up to date and will take some pix tommorrow. its always 4:20 up here on cloud 9.

Insulate all you can.

If you need a thick wall tub,
use epoxy to glue two stacked tubs, together.(say that real fast)

i will eventually do that, but for now im pressed for time. I have 3 wk old clones still running in the 120 site EZ-cloner. they are starting to yellow a bit, so i need to get things moving by tommorrow. I will harvest my current soil crop and start setting up the grow room with the aero system. my pots and grommets will be here in the morning also, so i can start my test run. I took pix today but i cant find my usb connector. i have like 5 laying around in some boxes somewhere. So when i find one i will upload the pix.
i have a 1/2 hp utility pump that i use in a 30 gal trash bin for mixing my nutes for the soil. i think that will be enough gph for my system. i think a 1/2 hp pump is 2500 gph from what ive looked up.
for my lighting i am using 2 - 1000 watt hps lamps w/ T5 side lighting. i am also using a 4 bulb t5 for my clones which are setup in a 4 x 4 hydro hut. the strain is purple x big bud which is known to grow slow, but i expect much faster veg w/ the aero setup. the buds get a beautiful dark purple with bursts of yellow, giving it a beautiful marble look. letting it flower for the full 60 days gets the full purple effect, but i like the marbled look at 56 days. These buds tend to mold up real fast due to how dense and big they get, so i have to harvest tops at 6 wks. then let the rest darken down for the remainder.
i will keep you guys posted on my setup, any feedback is greatly appreciated. 1 chalice load, then ill go. 2 chalice load, then ill go. 3 chalice load, and then my head explode. BOOM DRAW!

How about using that expandable spray foam to seal them together
-- this'll also provide insulation to the rez

Yea/nay? What say you, Earl, of the pot astronaut?

Thinking about it, the only issue I can muster is a possible
propensity to leak if using rubber grommets.
The solution would be to use a small length of PVC through
any holes drilled below water level....

Another thought is, for insulation, you would want a slightly
smaller inner core than the outer box. Otherwise, if they are
the same size, and nestled on top of each other,
this'll squeeze out the spray foam, effectively
negating its purpose.

something like this:

I haven't tried either method.

If you make some insulated tubs,
please take some pix.

The basket drain I use and the bulkhead fittings will still work.

I like the idea,
but i think it may be harder to actually do,
than it appears.

I have worked with two part epoxy foam,
and it would be the best choice for filling the space between the tubs.

I believe that using the two part foam,
would reguire a male plug, and a female box,
to prevent the foam from distorting the shape of the tubs,
as the foam expanded during the reaction phase.

You could possibly fill the top tub with water,
to try and prevent distortion,
but filling the tubs with water rapidly
before the foam reacted,
would be difficult.

Two part urethane foam can be pumped through a heated hose.

If you were going to set-up jigs
and make a lot of these tubs
it would be easy, but costly,
unless you could sell a few hundred.

If you use the spray in foam,
I believe there will be many voids in your foam.

I'm not sure the R value is worth the effort,
with such a small space for the foam to occupy.

Some epoxy resin would make a hell of a stiff tub,
if you used that to glue a stacked pair together.

Might be pretty expensive,
I haven't priced epoxy resin in a few years.

Maybe get one tub slightly larger than the other, then use that spray foam to fill the gap.
