All this discussion of coca is making me nostalgic for the summer I spent in the Pervian Andes. Everybody there chews coca or drinks coca tea daily. I brought a ton of it back with me and I lucked out and managed to get it all through customs in the US. This was of course a couple of years before 9/11 and I imagine it would be much harder nowadays. Anyway, coca grows everywhere down there and you can pull the leaves off the nearest bush and start chewing. It does wonders for the negative effects of high altitude and for general travel sickness. The buzz you get from it is pretty pleasant too. The next time I'm in Vancouver I'm definitely going to stop by and pick some up!

And it's not the radioactive fertilizers. Organic tobacco is not safe and actually probably more dangerous.

I brought several pounds of dried coca to the US from Peru in 1998 and used it to make tea for three or four years after returning to the states. It makes delicious tea (light and sweet, like green tea) that settles the stomach, cures headaches and gives you a nice little lift.

They can be stored for 2 years or more once they have been dried. The seeds don't travel or dry well at all. But the leaves do fine. The leaves we have are potent and they work fine. The 3-gram chewpack makes your whole mouth numb and gives a nice energy boost. Normally I am a pretty heavy coffee user.
