June 3rd, 2009The extradition hearing was rescheduled for the week of September 28th, but the plea deal should be complete and the sentencing underway at that time, which will likely cancel the hearing in September.
May 26th, 2009The extradition hearing that was scheduled for June 1-5th, 2009 in the BC Supreme Court was adjourned for two weeks pending
plea deal negotiations between Marc's lawyer and Todd Greenberg, the US Prosecutor. Marc's next court appearance is Wednesday June 3rd.
On April 24th 2009, Marc's co-accused Michelle Rainey and Greg Williams went to Seattle, Washington to
enter guilty pleas in exchange for sentences of 2 years of probation in Canada. Their sentencing is set for July 17th in the USA.
November 14th, 2009Today's court appearance was to adjourn the December 1-5 MLAT (Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty) hearing, when the evidence seized for prosecution is sent to the USA, but the judge herself had to adjourn for scheduling reasons. The MLAT hearing is now on February 9-13, 2009.
The extradition hearing, separate from the MLAT hearing, was moved from its February date to June 1-5th, 2009. Marc and I are happy that we get more time together.
September 9th, 2008Here's the news from today's court appearance: December 1-5th have been put aside for Greg Williams' lawyer Kirk Tousaw's "motions" (he'll have to elaborate on that instead of me).
Then February 9-17th is scheduled for the extradition/committal hearing. So we have a little over one year until the extradition hearing, with continued negotiations underway for possible resolutions before that date.
We have to discuss our strategy some more in person before I post any advice or calls to action, so for now, just keep spreading the word and raising awareness, handing out pamphlets and getting petitions signed.
