I guess that means you are a liar, right lieutenant? Or has the ghost of abbey appeared again? But you are still an anonymous flake.

Do you factor in the number of mentally ill that end up in prison for longer sentences by continuing to commit criminal acts that would otherwise not be counted against them in a Hospital for the menatlly ill? The Mentally ill are swelling our prison population at an alarming rate.

Thank you for the link Spark one:
please don`t get me started on Ritalin because that is only one of many psychotropic medications being prescribed to children who`s problems can often be traced to the parents` and teachers` failures. I`m going through the link tonight
because I no longer have confidence that our judicial branch is operating within the boundaries set forth in our Constitution.

Two more former Campbell County sheriff's officers have been sentenced to prison for the beating and torture of a suspected drug dealer. The officers claimed they went to Lester Siler's home to serve a probation violation warrant, but in fact they tortured him, demanding drugs and money. And Siler's wife tape recorded it.

A former FBI agent helped set up the 1992 shotgun murder of a Brooklyn mobster, a federal civil suit filed by the gangster's widow charges. The agent, Lindley DeVecchio, pulled a surveillance team shortly before the rubout of Nicholas Grancio as a favor to Mafia capo Gregory Scarpa Sr. - DeVecchio's secret informant, the suit contends. It's Nothing Personal; It's Just Business

Suspicions about a 1998 4th offense drunken-driving case dismissed by former prosecutor Brad Priebe have prompted Winnebago County DA Bill Lennon to refer the matter to the state Department of Justice for review of the case. Lennon said he did so in response to “red flags” that appeared as prosecutors prepared a new drunken driving case against the same man, whose 1998 case was dismissed as a result of a motion by Priebe, then a Winnebago County assistant district attorney. Priebe, appointed judge in Outagamie County Circuit Court and running for election in his own right, said he was ordered to dismiss the charge by then-DA Joe Paulus, now in prison for taking bribes to fix cases, and "had no choice".

An Illinois State Police lieutenant says he was stopped from investigating the possible involvement of a Downstate businessman in a double homicide because the man had made significant political donations. The lieutenant does not allege wrongdoing by the politician, former Gov. George Ryan, whose campaign fund received the businessman's donations. But he alleges that state police brass were guided by fear of political reprisals, even in an investigation with the highest possible stakes--a death penalty murder case.

A federal jury has awarded nearly $6.6 million in damages to former Chicago police Officer Steven Manning, finding two veteran FBI agents framed him for a Cook County murder that put him on Death Row. The jury also held that one of the FBI agents also framed Manning in a Missouri kidnapping case. Manning spent 14 years in prison before both convictions were overturned and the prosecutions were dropped. Framed by FBI

In July 2004, a federal judge dismissed Edmonds' primary lawsuit against the FBI on the basis of the rarely invoked "state secrets privilege." The government also prevented Edmonds from being deposed by 9/11 family members in their lawsuit against Saudi Arabia. A year earlier a different federal judge dismissed Edmonds' FOIA case that sought release of her own FBI file on grounds of national security.

I definately agree with your post on the rediculous American penal system.(having suffered from their paraniod backwater court system myself). But the Canadian penal system is no better. Let me relate a tale, about a time that I was in prison for possession with intent. During my stay, I had a cellmate that went by the handle Jo-Jo. Jo-Jo made his living selling crack rocks. While I was serving one sentence for possession w/ intent. Jo-Jo served a sentence, was release and serving a second sentence, that his release date was only 5 days after mine. The Canadian government, with pressure put on it by the Americans. Rediculously, over punishes Marijuana crimes. Unfortunately, the best thing for the freedom movement, is lessoned ties with big brother.
Peace

I have briefly read over most of these posts. In my opinion prisons need the last place any sane person would want to go. I say take out all of the things which currently make prison life soooo bearable. Get rid of the TV's, gyms, basket ball quarts, ect... I say give them (prisoners) 3 square meals a day, a warm dry place to sleep, 12 hours of labor 6 days a week with no pay. I like the tent prison in Arizona.
As far as the homeless...Yes, it is a problem and there is no real answer for it. Maybe you (everyone who thinks there is not enough being done to correct the problem) should invite the net homeless person you see to come live with you and your family.
Some of you act as if the police should leave all drug users/pushers alone and just show them "peace and love man".
I can say that if there was a meth-lab or crack house next to my house, I would want it busted and the adults sent to a prison like one I described at the beginning of my post.
I also believe that Mj should be legalized and alcohol made illegal. Alcohol has been the major contributing factor in more deaths, car accidents, domestic disputes, divorces, ect..than MJ.
BTW I have family and friends in prison at this time and I still believe prisons should be far worse than they are now.
But hell, I'm for public hangings too. Which is ok because I have the constitutional right to make my opinion know
