I absolutely LOVE the fact that Canada rates highest among pot use out of all the developed industrial nations. It only suits us right if we become the first nation to fully legalize Cannabis. Legalize and Regulate.

I love this too! What I love even more is the fact that Canada works hard on its issues, whatever they may be, internaly without trying to force thier way of doing things upon everyone else in the world the way the U.S. does.

If Canada gets it right, they say look at us guys, this works for us and you can implement it in your neck of the woods if you want but we aren't going to make you.

If Canada gets it wrong, well then they the either fix it or they don't but they are not responsible for forcing thier bad policy upon others and only have to worry about cleaning up thier own mess....unlike the U.S.

This could be very big for Canadians, congradulations to you! I hope it sticks this time, and even more than that I hope that if it does stick the U.S. pays attention.

Peace and Green

"Oh I know it, but this time on a governmental level. Canadians may be at war with the US, but Canada isn't...No way, not with 'Shrub' Harper in power. "

Canadians are too at war with America. WTF? You think I wanna pay friggen Canadian tax rates? Slap a GST on my ass , and I`m going to war with Canadian , period. It`s about time we took over Maple Leaf oil anyway , before they sell it to Fidelito ,el pingaso de` culito in exchange for 1960`s era doctors. Or some other mindless money grinder like the Kyoto Agreement. And they think we`re wasteful? I wish the ice caps would melt faster. Get those ol` Polar Bears chewing fat Canadian blubberasses!
Hell no!! Mexicans work cheaper and harder .

I surely hope you are trying to be sarcastic with that rant.If not I want to assure our Canadian friends that you do not represent a majority in this country and are an embarrasment to the intelligent amongst us.

Don't worry there are than enough intelligent Americans on these boards to make up for benjamin's remarks. Most of us Canadians are smart enough to know he does not speak for the majority of our friends to the south. I tend to take his remarks mostly as comic relief.

oh and BTW Yahoooooooooo! Nice ruling. I made sure to point it out to the crown, defence attornies and the judge at the courthouse today. None of them had even heard about it yet. The law IS unconstitutional, any educated person can plainly see that, and it is only a matter of time before the war on Cannabis will be officially at an end. Tough luck for the cops. I sense massive layoffs in their future.

They continued laying charges the last time, but the charges were stayed I believe.

Taking a big step like Legalization of Cannabis would put Canada on the fore front of an International discussion. We can set an example for rational Cannabis policy, and at the same time stand up for our nation in the face of US-bullying. We need to stand up for our nation and our people.

After legalization, the first issue we should try to work on is fighting world hunger by mass producing cannabis seeds (which are high in nutrients/vital amino acids, ect) and process them to create a dietary plan to help feed hungry people all over the world.

Secondly, we should try to expand on the medical knowledge we have of the plant, do a mass study of EVERY STRAIN of Cannabis that exists on Earth. This could lead to new breakthroughs, and a higher understanding of this valuable resource.

Thirdly, the govt. should put $$$$$$$ into researching and production of a hemp fuelled car that can be mass produced for a cheap cost. Call it the 'Canadian Envirocar', build it completely of renewable resources (like the original Model-T that was built completely from hemp), then mass produce it and sell it around the world. It will create an environmentally safe car, and if we couple the production of the car with mass fuel production, we could create a new global industry that has a growable fuel source.

Patent the car technology, sell it globally.
Fuel can be grown everywhere, so it would be CHEAP and local. No more money wasted on transporting billions of tons of oil through pipelines if you can grow fuel on every block.

Its time to take a stand for what Canadians know is right. Lets get it done.

Peace and Pot,
~Andrew

Well I don't think the cops jobs would be affected. All the organized criminals that currently grow and distribute marijuana would either have to become legit or move on to a different "resource", maybe cocaine or heroin. There would still be a war on drugs, just cannabis would be excluded.

It won't affect the cops at all. There are plenty of other drug issues for them to focus on, as said above. And rest assured, there will still be arrests and charges for simple possession. In Ontario, the Police Services Act prohibits cops from being laid off. I find it hard to get all excited about this ruling. The skeptic in me, I suppose.

Legalized cannabis will not put and end to all crime, it will just give the cops more time and resources to go after people who are actually doing harm, the cops jobs are safe, although the cops will be less safe with them having time to go after real criminals.
