They do indeed have an extensive list and a points system to go with them. Other indicators are behavior in the departure lounge.
The young, lone traveller from Holland is hot, especially if they look even slightly stoned on arrival at Schipol.
The Dutch are not interested in dealing with foreigners for small amounts of weed, unless the individual is daft enough to have it in their pocket or cases, then they are left with little alternative but to do something. Every single case is xrayed at Schipol at least once and usually at check in.... while you are with it.
Even the dogs at Schipol don't react to the smell of dope - otherwise they would be searching thousands of tourists and Dutch alike for the smell on their clothing.
What they will do if they have any suspicions is along with the passenger list - they will add comments about any suspicions they have about individuals.... which they always send to your arrival port prior to you getting there.
Then there is the list of standard questions.
1. Where have you been? - like you just got off a plane from Ams...
2. What was the purpose of the visit? - mountain climbing in Holland.
3. Did you pack your own luggage?
4. Was it possible for anyone to put anything in your luggage? Answer no to this and if they find anything you may as well plead guilty. Answer yes and you are guaranteed a full spin (proper search).
Every question they ask is measured against points, how you react and what you do while being questioned all indicate something to a customs officer... along with their own gut feelings.... and are apart from being used to gather information or profiling, are there to make safe a conviction at a later date.
It's a bit like I said earlier... they have their years of experience and knowledge.
I'm not suggesting for one moment that the amature smuggler won't get through. Indeed many do. But taking the risk of being banned from travel to some countries - banned from many types of employment, the expense, inconvenience and all the other issues that go with owning a criminal record are not justified for a small amount of weed. This is nothing to do with being paranoid, I wouldn't advise people to cross the road with their eyes closed either.
It simply just does NOT make any sense at all.
Then there is something else. I work for one of the U.K's top hosting companies. If your Government want it, then they already know who you are and where you live. There is nothing you can do to prevent that. So 420... has already told us and possibly the authorities about the plan, where, what and when.
I'm not sure what the situation is where 420 lives, but here in the U.K. - smuggling weed from Holland would be like selling ice to the Eskimo's these days... I thought dope was readily available in most countries now... what with skunk being so easy to grow.
Anyways, tis up to 420 at the end of the day.
