Hey Caligrower... I do not understand how you can use a
different soil mix for bloom with the plants already in the ground, and what kind of soil do you use for both mixes?

I grow outdoor, this is the recipe I use for a 10x20ft plot. I mix it in when I till the soil, just after the last frost.
2 - 5gal buckets of homemade "fish emulsion" 2 - 5gal buckets of seaweed (dried and pulverized) 20lbs - bone meal 1 - 5gal bucket of whole bananas 8 - 5gal buckets of horse manure (from a local farm) 4 - 5gal buckets of ashes after I mix it all up, I add 5lbs of redworms
The worms or the bone meal are the most expensive part of my mix, most of the rest is free. I have had success with this mix for the past 6 years. I still fertilize with an organic tea for a few weeks after summer solstice, and then continue with just molasses for the duration of the grow.

Nice recipe. I personally dont use such a large variety of nute sources but you sure are giving your soil a lot of love. I use way more worm castings and mix them into my soil mix. I also use a bit more greensand and mix in a pinch of epsom salt. Then again you know what they say there are as many ways to grow organic as there are organic growers! My soil mix: 3 parts soil 1 part worm castings 1-2 parts perlite Per cubic ft of soil mix I add: 1 cup blood meal 1 cup bone meal 1.5 cups greensand 1 cup kelp meal 1 cup dolomite lime 1/4 cup epsom salt Cook for at least a month in a closed clean trash can with distilled water. i use 2.5 gallons of water per 35 gallon can.

If you add too much lime, the pH will rise to undesirable levels and will not be able to be lowered. Lime sticks in soil and cannot be leached out. If you’re sure your medium will be too acidic and require lime, than go ahead and add some, but if you’re not sure it’s best to leave it out on the first run. If I use lime in my mix with my soil the pH rises too much. -caligrower This statement is contradictory to what i have previously read. Authentic dolomite lime has a neutral ph of 7. It is used to bring acidic soil back up near 7. Your mix is most likely alkaline to begin with. Here is my source. http://books.google.com/books?id=rnwwxoO...result#PPA88,M1
