Anybody attend your local GMM? What were some highlights that would be worth doing again? What are some things that should be done differently in '07?

NYC, not enough people. I'm thinking 10,000+ cannabis consumers and a kilo or so of pre-rolled joints for the 2007 GMM. That will send the message.

I organized the one in Calgary. Attendance was up ten fold over last year. I only attended last year (2005) and had nothing to do with the organizing.

Calgary Police Service held up their part of the negotiations I had with them prior to the Calgary 2006 GMM.

Guardian Angel (Curtis) tried to disrupt the event by totally misrepresenting himself to me. He got booed and was forced off the stage by my small wife Debbie (5'2" 115 lbs).

I am trying to find a insurance company for a 2 million liability policy for 2007. Anyone know of one please let me know as soon as possible. I heard there might be one in Vancouver but I don't have a name or phone number.

I had the City of Calgary (finally) on board and the CPS too.

2007 will be much bigger in Calgary then 2006.
Thousands will attend if I can find a 2 million liability insurance policy.

The current plan is to start at Olympic Plaza at 12:00 PM with live bands to draw a huge crowd. 2:00 PM we march around the streets and end up back at Olympic Plaza.

I heard that the TO march had about 20,000 show up. It was quite an event!

I was one of the Event Coordinator's for Toronto's Global Marijuana March with an estimated attendance of 25,000-30,000 people.

We are still recovering here from presenting not only the march but the 1st Annual Cannabis Week which encompassing the march was a total of 8 events over 6 days.

We as organizers are extremely happy about the attendance though are now painfully aware that our volunteer force of park cleaners was in no way prepared to deal with our 250 % growth and we thank them for sticking it out with us all night picking up trash.

We definately had a few bumps in the road and nothing went off without a hitch but I am extremely happy and flattered to hear that everyone had such a great time. It was my first year organizing this event and I could use any advice or idea's anyone would have to improve the March and Cannabis Week. I pre-booked a few food vendor's this morning for next May and I'm excited to see the activism in Toronto continue to grow, and am hoping that Toronto's Cannabis Week policy of " Bring a bud" will continue in 2007 and we'll achieve our new goal of 50,000!!!!

Tracy,
You guys did an amazing job. Too bad the media didn't acknowledge that 25,000 - 30,000 cannabis users can get together and behave themselves. Could you imagine that many drunks gathered together in one spot?

We needed more people at our local march. We had less than a thousand, which is an okay turnout I guess.

I didn't see any flyers so more advertising of the event would help big time. The only way I found out was surfing the local NORML website.

I think that more planning is desperately needed. Also a different poster design. This year maybe we could contact the major marijuana magazines, and websites and ask them to publish some free advertising in the months leading up to the march, and to get cities to start planning EARLY. Congrats Toronto on 25K people! I see that you're already on the www.globalmarijuanamarch.com site for next year. That's what I'm talkin' about!

Thanks for the tips Budbabes. I will contact both and see what they can do for us in Calgary.
