Something to consider when making a reflector is the safety factor. That candle globe works well for ventillation, but if that bulb ever exploded it wouldn't do much good to keep the 1000 degree shrapnel from spreading all over your grow room.

It DOES happen. One of my 1000 watt MH lamps blew a month or two ago. If it wasn't for my tempered glass shield, I'm pretty sure that my house would have caught on fire.
