wow i can't believe Shappelle Corby was sentenced for 20 years for 4.2 g!!! That's insane! Not right at all. There should be global decriminalization, or global acceptance for medical card holders atleast.

Don Briere was sentenced May 26, 2008 to 30 months federal prison for possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime.
He is currently in maximum security for the assessment phase of his sentence. He will be there up to 90 days and will then be moved to another prison to do his time.

Thanks for the offer Andrew.
Unfortunately, prisoners cannot receive books sent in from people. Anything like that would just be put into his effects in storage until he leaves. Books and magazines need to be approved first and come new, directly from a "reputable" publisher or bookstore.
If you are carrying around extra books, I do believe you can make donations to prison libraries somehow.
Photocopies of magazine articles and anything like that is okay to mail in.

I finally got in to see Don. He is still in RRAC and hoping to be transferred out of maximum security in the next few weeks. He has been double bunked and just got his own cell yesterday. He seems in good spirits but hey, he's in prison.

Our visits are "screened" - we see each other between thick glass and we talk into telephones while a guard monitors the whole thing. In a few weeks our visits should be changed to "open" visits where we can sit at a table together and share a coffee and a hug.

Don was really thrilled to hear about our lemon-aid stand for him on Cannabis Day. He wants to thank the atasteoffreedom.ca crew for their wonderful support and thanks to everyone for buying a lemon-aid.

My visitor status has been upgraded from "screened" to "open" so we can actually have a hug and sit at the same table together.
