Tell them how their stories make you feel, what action you are taking as a result of how you feel, that you think kind thoughts of them often, that there is much being done to help change opinions, and laws that there plights are not in vain.Im sure they would love to here as much about these things as you could write.
thank you so much for asking and caring.

What a great idea for this Thread.

Bless yout heart Whirlwind, Bong Pixie and everyone else who takes the time to write our fellow jailed Activists.

And - Thank you to those who have written already...

* When writing these people, some of whom are our family and friends, up date them on who YOU are, why and how you became involved in the current Drug War and why you chose to write THEM.

* These Warriors need to know they they have reached Joe and Janet Public - Tell them.

* They need to know if you have children who you are explaining the atrocitites of the Drug War to?

* They will need to know just what we are going to help them with in their struggle?

* They need to know we will NEVER give up on them - even if our Countries and our Courts have.

* They need to know that their struggles meant something that their behavior wasn't in vane..

Change WILL Happen.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write your thoughts in these letters.

I KNOW that they will be appreciated.

Some people find this just as difficult as a face to face meeting.

Please don't be shy - these people are not picky, just lonely.

Well said Alison!
Thanks for the additions.

Just a little note for those of you who send mail into Maplehurst:
It has come to my attention that inmates may not have pictures of themselves. I am unsure what the reasoning is behind this rule.

Please send a little something to our friend John "Gluten" Anderson, whether it be mail or a small money order for his canteen.
I believe visiting hours at Barton are 9am-11am, 1pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm. I am unsure if John has already been put on a work range where he would get three 20 minute visits a week. Otherwise I believe he gets two. If you need any further information on visiting him, please feel free to PM me or call Up In Smoke Cafe.ca at 905.966.2677.

Thank you all for the support.
Have a nice jay.

Stephanie

Greetings fellow activists...

Two birthday cards and a couple pages of printouts from the Birthday Greetings thread and a beautiful picture were sent from the Seed Bank today....(any late entries will be sent along, and late is better than not at all so if you haven't yet, do it now).....thank you to everyone who sent along a birthday wish already...

Carol reports that she is receiving mail from around the country. Fellow Canadians as well as Americans are sending notes and words of encouragement and praise for her efforts. She is really enjoying the mail and thanks everyone for taking time out of their day to think of her. She also appreciates the money orders, which help a lot come canteen day.

peace and love...

Dang. I received the mail I sent to Chris.

I wonder does it cost a little bit more for Americans to send mails to Canadians?

It came back to me. I am on my way to post office to correct this out and have it mailed to Chris

Once I know about the U.S./Canada mailing situation, I'll be writing the next letter to Gluten.

E-mails are a lot simpler. LOL.

I mailed two envelopes to Canada. Both mails were returned back to me. I learned that it cost more than just an American stamp to get the letters to Canada.

As we all know that one American stamp cost .39 per ounce,
it cost .63 per ounce to mail a letter to Canada.

Please check with your local post office just to double check the weight/cost before mailing a letter to Canada.

Well, I finally got a letter mailed to Canada. Hopefully Goodster will get his letter before he is released from jail.

This was my face when I recieved the letters back in mail. Now this is my face knowing that I successfully sent the letters finally sent to Canada. AND THIS IS MY FACE DURING HAPPY HOUR!

It is always a good idea to go down to your local post office to send your mail out. I have had mail sent back because it was too heavy and needed more postage.

Glad to hear that Carol is getting plenty of mail from everyone.

Keep up the good work!

Just an update - John Aderson was transfered from the Hamilton-Wenworth Detention Centre on Barton Street in Hamilton to Maplehurst Correctional Centre in Milton on Thursday the 26. He put in a request for work and has gone from DC (detention centre) up to 5D with Chris in the work range!
It seems to be a good cahnge for them both as they can talk to pass the time. I even went up for a visit with John's girlfriend Nicole.
Please send John some words of encouragement, as the time may seem to go a little more slowly after Chris is released.

Only 9 days to go!!!

Thanks all, hav a nice jay.

Stephanie
