Your thinking is in line with backdoor legalization of Heroin by saying that addicts should be treated with Heroin doses to prevent them from getting "sick". I myself want MJ legal for the sole purpose of getting high. Granted , it does help with pain and elevates a good mood etc.. When I hear the multitude of ailments MJ is reported to be good for treating , the message sounds too much like a turn of the century snake oil salesman.
You insultingly dismiss the empirical evidence of the safe injection site’s success as,......................
Please let me remind you , there is no such thing as a safe injection. Needles inserted directly into the bloodstream carry risk every time it is done.Hah! You are far too cavalier about a serious health risk. While there may be many that believe Heroin is safe and should be acceptable, you and I both know that junkies are avoided by most people for a good reason.

*see attachment.Oh , by the way, most doctors and hospitals put drunks and addicts low on the list of transplant surgeries knowing full well it is pretty much a wasteful practice to give an organ to someone who is already dead.

Start the poll Dave. We want to find out if a majority want hard drugs legalized along with Marijuana.

Most people have the history of opium in China screwed up. A writer in China said that opium addcition was less than 10% in users and that aristocrats would eat it to secure buisnness deals. Only when the leader found out that it was being smuggled into his country without being taxed did the problem start. He sent his men down to the docks to the brittish he wanted it taxed and then a drunken Britt shot one of the Chinese. This started the opium wars...it's likely you'll heard a more dark side of the story from prohibitionist though...and it's painful when my brothers and sisters rant this or silently sink into disbelief... let's get racist with it, who invented heroin anyway...who had the capability, and not to mention the madness to invent this horror?

my thoughts on this:

what is the cost to the health system of obesity?

what is the cost to the health system of junkies?

should we make eating too much food against the law? i mean, anyone can see that being overweight is unhealthy. i say we save everyone from themselves and just make 'pleasure' illegal.

Obesity is a problem of over abundance. Now imagine an over abundant supply of smack , and the price it could demand.

ok. i'll bite.

obesity is a problem of over-indulgence.

this is just bad economics. short supply = high price. abundant supply = low price.

we argue here that when cannabis prohibition is repealed, and when it is regulated and taxed -- when people can grow their own like a crop of tomatoes -- not only will the prices drop, but people will know what they are getting, who they are getting it from, and how it was grown.

i am not advocating that heroin is good for people, but i do advocate the right of the individual/adult to make their own personal choices.

do you believe that if heroin were 'legal' -- if you could just go down to the neighborhood junk shop and get a spoonful -- that there would be a huge run on junk? i don't.

Chris Buors said it here once (maybe twice ), that a government could indeed control their population and that the model for this already exists ... we know them as the Taliban.

Imagine that.

you may say i'm a dreamer,
but i'm not the only one ...

Im surprised people in this forum would wish to flood the streets with hard drugs and not consider the young people who will have the same easy access. If thats true than, marijuana really is a gate way drug.

News flash, Mister Hand ... the idea is to get it off the streets and keep it out of the hands of minors.

I can tell you that the way things stand right now ; not enough is being done to keep alcohol and tobacco out of children`s hands.Teenage drinking is/ has been a problem in the US.

And the blame for that rests entirely with the PARENTS. It's not the government or anyone else's job to raise children and teach them right from wrong. 99% of the time, if your kid is running around strung out on heroin or getting wasted, it's YOUR FAULT.

Not all kids feel the need to engage in those kinds of activities. Do you think that's cause of prohibitionist tactics? No, it's good parenting.

I think most people here are interested in legalization of marajuana not heroin.

Many people here are in favor of regulated, responsible access to all drugs. The key words being regulated and responsible, neither of which occur in a black market system caused by prohibition.
