I was about to go to sleep here a little while ago, just before 11pm PST. CityNews was coming on as I was about to press the power button on the TV remote. Suddenly I heard the anchor saying in their intro something about "A smokey show of support for Da Kine...". Naturally I had to stay up to watch; unfortunately I was unable to join my friends this afternoon as they gathered for their "hashmob cannabis cafe" in support of Da Kine, cannabis cafes in Vancouver, and the legalization of marijuana.

"A blunt show of support this afternoon for the owner of Da Kine cafe..." Clever intro to the story!

Lady Marijuana and Neil of the Herb School had great comments, and no protest footage would be complete without at least a quick cameo by DML. They showed some footage of the Da Kine raid and great shots of the group sitting around their coffee tables assembled outside to present the cafe look. I am impressed by the turnout on this chilly day! Terrific job, everybody... wow!! I'm so proud of all of you I could bust! I really hate that I missed it.

Congratulations hashmob. This kind of street theatre is both interesting and effective!

My wife(Michelle M) thanks you all for the support you show for her and her 3 co-accused, she would have loved to have see the mob....but her bail restricts her from that sort of activity . And a big thanks to the folks who stood out in the rain all week.

This was the first Hash Mob sponsored by the women's cannabis activist group that I am a part of and we are planning to do a series of Hash Mobs in hopes that this form of creative activism will spread.

We are currently gathering contacts from people who live in the Vancouver area and would like to participate in future hash mobs with us.
