Chris and Matt are putting together a protest in Toronto on monday. Hopefully they will do a repeat performance on Sept 10. (Sept 11 would be better)

I sugested originally Sept. 11th and we could fly two huge joints into the US Consulate, but the reality is the optics would be too bad on that day. Still, it is important to remember that it is the USA who has tied drugs to terrorism, creating a relation between these two issues, not us.

Sept 9th is an even better choice...

Ask people who love Canada to take the Friday off work.

It is a variation on what GHandi did by marching to the sea and helping himself to a pinch of salt....thus undermining the salt tax.....you have to cost them money to get their attention.

As Activists this would be a perfect time to flex some economic muscle....the only language power understands.

Look Chris, that is THE classic stunt you guys are allowed to pull in Canada when shit like this happens man. It's also fun to kick it and get high and protest, right? But I live in America, and I have always had an uncanny accuracy at knowing peoples motives based on their actions. To be honest with you, a lot of people have that skill..... When the US government wants Marc Emery in their possesion, they GET Emery in their possesion, simple as that. The US wants Marc in their custody right now.......DID YOU SEE WHAT I JUST TYPED???......It hurts me to even think about him getting extradited, but it's so close its not even funny. This is serious shit!!! Marc Emery fights for pot, thats what he's chosen to do with his life. As of right now, you guys up there need to TOTALLY forget about fucking getting high, and TOTALLY focus on trying your hardest to save Marc. Im serious, if you guys are going there on Sept. 10th, you need to not smoke any bud. You need to tell everyone to get high before hand, and that anyone caught smoking marijuana will be asked to leave because "its a protest for Marc Emery, not pot". There ya go, I just gave you the perfect header for your next post if your smart. C'mon man......you know I'm serious......my government will fuck Emery in a heartbeat for sure if you show up there smoking fucking weed.....are you out of your mind?

Personally, i've already stopped smoking weed to get my brains back for some serious activism. I'll just take it down to occasional while i'm in school.

Otherwise, we depend on some folks to come kick it and get high. But those folks should also realize that there is so much more to do. It will definately take more than hitting the bong to do this.

Besides, its already known you can smoke outside the vancouver cop shop all day. They don't care, but it's up to us to show them we want it legalised through our lobbying, our grassroots movements and our willpower to fight this on all levels!

Wow, someone on another post said canadians are stronger because they dont cave in. Obviously he's right, because your pretty damn hard-headed.

This really transcends the pot issue. It no longer is about marijuana. To some people it might still be about pot, but to me, and many other leftists in the country, this is about our sovereignty and not allowing the US to fuck around with our legal system.

The Province, the big newspaper out of Vancouver, did a hugely sympathetic, massive front page spread on the raids with a scathing editorial, front page against the US and DEA policy. They then had this insert in the D section on diverging Canadian and American values.

Canadians like to believe that we have a strong identity that is seperate from the United States. We have different values and a different way of doing business. We may look and sometimes act the same, but we are two very distinct countries with seperate ways of life.

When the US moves in and starts doing things like this, nothing, and I mean NOTHING gets Canadians more pissed off. This goes to the very heart of Canadian history. We pride ourselves on fighting off the Americans in the various conflicts of the early 19th century, and striking back at the Americans by burning down the whitehouse in the war of 1812. We (the indians and the british) faught hard to keep this country seperate from the United States, and it has been one political battle after another to salvage the last remenents of Canadian identity, whether it be legally, economically or culturally.

This is why I stress to everyone that it is a time to reach out to the media and other progressive organisations to form alliances against this sort of aggression. This is something much larger than the marijuana issue, and is why we have seen the enormous reaction of the last 40 hrs.

theres are no newspapers out of vancouver....they come from winnipeg....the asper family bought most of canadas newspapers and all of bc's newspapers...the aspers edit everthing in winnipeg.....i find it funny when i look at the newspaper rack at the corner store and theres a whole bunch of newspapers with different names and the exact same context...the people who read them have not even figured out there all the samething... its like in that movie they live...the guy puts on his sunglasses and finnaly sees whats really going on...
