Welcome to the discussion forum for eNDProhibition - the anti-prohibition wing of Canada's New Democratic Party.

We are New Democrats united in our opposition to Canada's failed "war on drugs." We do not believe that waging war is the right approach to solving health and social issues related to the use of mind-altering substances.

On our website you can learn more about the eNDProhibition philosophy, find out what we're up to, and discover what you can do to help out in our movement, including joining up to our organization.

We are online at http://www.endprohibition.ca

I encourage folks to use this thread to say hello, introduce yourselves, and recount some of your experience with the NDP, the anti-prohibition movement, and/or whatever else you want to share about yourself.

Hey Doll. Hey Everyone...

Wow. Impressive...

Nice to have a full CV for others to read. You HAVE been busy...

My Resumé consists of the following:

Retired full time from Law Enforcement and pursued Marijuana Activism immediately due to serious health issue. Lost all feeling from the waist down and couldn't walk. (1992)

Began walking again with many months of complete physio therapy and social and familial support. Used a walker and a wheelchair continuously through out those years.

Came back to work for short stints until it was evident that my health was in dire need of immediate attention. (1992-1995)

Started my Marijuana and Drug Reform Activism when I educated my Doctors and recieved my first piece of paper with permission - a Doctor's note - claiming Cannabis as Medicine for my Health issue, chronic progressive Multiple Sclerosis and associated Tic Douloureux, an excruciating facial pain I have battled for twelve years. (1993)

Joined the NDP approximately twelve years ago for the first time. (1994)

Have actively voted NDP for many years before and since.

Have been Interviewed by more than 1,000 different Publications, Radio Stations, Local, National and International Newspapers, Magazines,
Documentaries, Web Programs etc. You name it I've been involved... (1998-2006)

Lobbied Parliament and Health Canada to Legalize, Tax and Regulate Marijuana and ALL Drugs in order to keep our children safe and our citizens from killing themselves and each other. (1993-2006)

Consistently fight Prohibition in a global enviroment. (1993-2006)

Began and launched a Website, The Medical Marijuana Mission with the help of my partner of 18 years, Gary Lynch.
To this day we average well over a 50,000 visits a month. (1998)

Had my first Electic Wheelchair given to me by a Church in Oakville, Ontario as a Charitable gift. (2000)

Sued the Government of Canada in a now famous Lawsuit, "Hitzig et al" led by Professor Alan Young, Joseph Neuberger, Paul Berstein, David Rose and Leora Shemesh of Toronto, Ontario. In control of successfully gathering a group of seven sick and dying Canadians and a caregiver from the Toronto Compassion Centre to meet the criteria of a serious and detrimental need for Cannabis as medicine in Canada. (2003)

Approached by Jack Cole from L.E.A.P. - Law Enforcement Against Prohibition based in the United States while in Ottawa on Parliament Hill speaking for a registered Event, "Fill the Hill". Asked to be LEAP's first leading Woman speaker in Canada. (2004)

Ran for Federal Office for the NDP in the Summer Election and garnered over 7% of the total vote. More than tripled the last Candidate's numbers for the NDP. (2004)

First person in Canada to be prescribed Sativex, the new Cannabis Spray from GW Pharmaceuticals. (2005)

Speak across North America regularly for L.E.A.P.
(2004-2006)

I continue all of the above except working full time, to this day. Like you Dana, this is just a quick over view...

Hope you enjoy!

Now it's YOUR turn!

Make Dana proud!

I took your advice, rejoined the NDP, and sent Jack a letter.

Quote:

Dear Jack,
I have just re-joined the NDP, as I had let my membership lapse. However, this did not prevent me from donating $400.00 in 2005 and $200.00 so far in 2006.
I want to let you know that I support the policies of the NDP in general. However, there is one issue in particular which I believe requires action, and this motivates me to make the contributions that I have made, and to join again. This is the issue of marijuana prohibition. I know that I don't have to educate you on the subject as I appreciate that you are sympathetic to this cause.
I urge you to find ways to end this waste of public resources, of reputations, of health. You are a person of energy and knowledge. Please use some of your talent to put an end to this unfortunate situation. Prohibition didn't work in the 1920's, generating criminal activity, and it doesn't work now. We need a realistic policy which deals with all aspects of the problem being caused by this ill-considered policy.
Thank you.
K

well I decided to dable in this forum cause I'm now happy to where the ndp is right now.

I started being active in the spring of 2003.

My first small bit of activisim was partial promotion with Chris Goodwin when Marc Emery came into town for the Summer of Legalization speaking tour on Mohawk Telelvision.

Then in the summer of 2003 I met an incredible woman named Alison Myrden and worked with her and several other awsome volunteers most noticbly Tina Agrell (who ran just recently in the Oakville Riding) in the riding of Oakville resulting the highest vote count for ANY NDP canndidate in the history of the Riding. And believe me knowing that the average income for a house hold in Oakville is 120,000 and having many doors slammed in my face it was no easy feat!

I've also done various rally's etc. I also do promotions for activist head shops within the hamilton and gta areas.
