I was thinking the same thing Moe and really all of this is one of the most encouraging and exciting political events I have had the chance to be involved with for a good long while.

We have a lot of great minds working together right now and I think it will turn out very well come election time.

Cheers

Thank you to all who came out to Ken Sailor's presentation, "Straight Talk About Marijuana"

The turnout from the general public was fantastic and so many people were genuinely interested in the subject matter. As well, a gentleman from CFCR radio (Saskatoon) intreoduced himself to me. Events like this are amazing in their own way and strongly encouraging. When I see the public asking real questions and coming away with a sense of satisfaction and deep curiosity which they had obviousely never had before (At least where cannabis is concerned) I become very happy.

I wish I could have been there from the very start but needless to say, Ken did a great job from what I saw and everyone else seemed to think so as well. Things are starting to move and shake out here in SK, let's hope we can get things to really fly and clatter before too long.

Cheers

I've got a good feeling about the Saskatchewan Marijuana Party. We've got many people interested, I've had a few of my friends ask how they can help out and I've definitely heard a lot of good ideas. We've got a quite a few people willing to help out with stuff once we get those signatures in, it's exciting. Oh, and I have printed out a copy of all of the forms for Medical MJ (33 PAGES!) and also 67 pages titled "Notification of passage of Regulations" from the health canada site. I will bring them to the next meeting.

Next meeting is on saturday and we will be meeting at upper place riel at 6:00 PM before proceeding to the College of Arts and Sciences.

As mentioned before, this next meeting will be governed by a basic outline of robert's rules of order.

This is just a thought, if some of the lawenforcement org were to abuse the list of sigs by running police records, contacting employers, sharing the lists with other cop-buddies, maybe a court order insuring the privacy of the signatures could be written.

I have asked elections Saskatchewan about that possibility and they told me that police organizations can not instigate any type of investigation of a person or organization based on the idea that they or a representative or affiliate signed a petition to register a political party.

If police officers were to start contacting employers, we would have a very very very strong case to sue local law enforcement for a breach of the public trust.

Basically, the bottom line is that petition signatures are not to be used as a base for any type of investigation. the laws are every clear that people must be free to express their political will in this case and that signing a petition is not an indication of any type of guilt. Honestly, it would be a fairly brain dead action for a law enforcement organization to start scrutinizing a list of signatures on a political petition to register a political party.

I certainly hope something like this is not possible because I told nearly everyone who signed my petitions that they would not and could not be used for anything but the registry of the party. .

Legally, they can not be used for anything else. Also realistically, it would simply be impractical for police to skim names off of this list for investigation of any sort. Plenty of non offenders/user/dealers or whatever sign these petitions as well as those who are in our "target demographic" and trying to figure out who on the petition was worth finding a reason to investigate and who was not would take more then a casual bit of time spent by an overzealous and overbearing LEO.

Yes, that's also something I told people when they were signing, is that them putting their signature on that paper did NOT mean they had ever smoked/owned/sold/seen marijuana. It did not mean that they were even in support of ending prohibition. I explained it as though it were a petition saying that we should be allowed to have our political party in Saskatchewan, the same as any other political party which has registered had to do. which seemed to convince people a little more than telling them that it was simply a petition to create the marijuana party.
