There has been a lot happening with the party lately and I have been run off my feet. I have no job and am occupied for perhaps 6-10 hours a day just doing general party work. This is a good thing in case anyone is wondering. I'm not alone though, a number of people have been working steadily and consistently to help the party achieve success and recognition. Our Party leader Nathan Holowaty has been getting the hang of the press and will certainly be a fantastic face for the party come election time. He's already doin' great!

Today the SKMP held a "joint" fundraiser between the party and the Saskatoon Food Bank. Half our proceeds from a BBQ are to be presented sometime next week to the food bank on behalf of the SKMP and its members.

We managed to raise $150 for the food bank and got coverage from local media.

I wanted to announce this here in part to show off but also to put out a public thanks to all those who came out to our BBQ. We had a number of volunteers which helped to ensure the event ran smoothly and a substantial number of supporters and well wishers dropped by throughout the day.

Thank you every one. This was our first fund raising event and it was a great success. I can't tell you all how happy I am to be a part of the SKMP.

Cheers

... and thanks to you Ethan. The BBQ wouldn't have happened without all your hard work.

So this pics for you. I like this shot because you seem realy loose and in the moment ... naturally stoned, as it were

Pursuant to subsection 42(1) of The Legislative Assembly and Executive Council Act, 2005, and due to the passing of Mr. Ben Heppner of the Saskatchewan Party, the constituency of Martensville became vacant on September 24, 2006. On February 5, 2007, pursuant to an Order of the Lieutenant Govenor in Council, a Writ of Election was issued by the Chief Electoral Officer to Ms. Darlene Buyck, constituency returning officer. The Writ ordered that the by-election be held on March 5, 2007.

full details released by Saskatchewan Elections ... http://www.elections.sk.ca/pdfs/news_release_20070205.pdf

The Saskatchewan Marijuana Party (SKMP) will announce a candidate for this by election within the next week. This will be a historic occasion for Saskatchewan and the party as it will mark the first time that a marijuana candidate has participated in an election in Saskatchewan.

The following press release (Below 30 information redacted) was sent to Sask media today. The Sask Marijuana Party is the first party with an oficially registered candidate in the Martensville by-election unlike those lazy straight laced guys that take ages to get anything done.

The SKMP is home to the most energetic and motivated political animals in the province!

Sask. Marijuana Party First to Register in By-Election

Feb 06, 2007: For Immediate Release

The Saskatchewan Marijuana Party today was the first registered provincial political party to register its candidate (Party leader Nathan Holowaty) in the Martensville by-election announced February 5th by Elections Saskatchewan. Not only is the SKMP fielding the first candidate in the Martensville by-election beating all the other parties to the punch, the SKMP is fielding the first marijuana party candidate Saskatchewan has ever seen either federally or provincially.

“It’s a pleasure to be in a position which will enable us to ensure that other parties and the people of Saskatchewan consider the important issue of cannabis prohibition in our province” Said Holowaty. “We are enthusiastic and excited. We can’t wait to see what happens over the next month.”

The Saskatchewan Marijuana Party is a registered provincial political party comprised of those who are supportive of marijuana legal reform and, the protection of those naturally acquired civil liberties afforded to every Canadian citizen through the charter of rights and freedoms and by extension, every resident of Saskatchewan. For more information on the SKMP, visit their website at www.saskmp.ca.
