Right on! Water is now my new curing method. I can't stand to look at that cloudy crap, so I change mine when it gets mucky. No sense in letting it sit in it's own crud. I have 2 golf ball sized buds curing in water with a small squirt of Blue Raspberry cocktail mix. Let it soak there until the last washing, then plain water. Just curious to see what flavour if any it picks up. Smells delicious though.

...OK, I tried this. BUT, I used a DRY nug for this. I soaked mine for 7 days changing water every day. I didn't get the milky water Louiseville had maybe because I'm organic. It dried in 2-3 days, lost it's nice color, lost it's nice aroma, and I thought it to be way harsher like (shit) but it burned nice. I put the rest back in the jar and I'll try it in another week or so. I'm alway's open to try new stuff.

I'll have to try it with a fresh nug when I harvest. KEEP in mind, this is only MY OPINION on MY stuff. Your mileage may vary...

those results sound like what I have read, it will lose its collor, and some of the flavour and smell, but by weight it will be cmoother and more potent. This goes for pre-dried, I had not seen any curing techniques using water and undried bud until this thread.

Mine are fresh cut, lightly trimmed buds directly into the jars of water. I change my water a few times each day as it gets milky. By the time 7 days have passed the water is clewar at days end. Once dried completely, it does lose it's pot smell and takes on more of a hay odour. But I found it to be smoother smoking and considerably harder hitting too. From now on I do about 80% of my harvest in water and the rest air dried, just in case I want to sell a bit. Since the water cured stuff seems to be lighter per bud, I don't want to sell an ounce of stronger bud for the same amount of money. I really think it is the way I am going to go for personal use from this point forward. I don't know how it would work on an already dried and cured bud though. I think you have to immerse in water right from the cut. That's the way I do it and will continue to do so from now on.

I would expect the Water Cure would also clean the buds up so there is no dust or anything on them.

It seems "weird" but I may try it out. I don't like the idea of hay smelling buds though, ick.

I think it has more to do with flushing out the plants. If it were just cleaning them off, the water would get dirty a couple of times and the dirt and dust would settle to the bottom. The water in my jars got milky after only an hour or so. I changed the water about 4 or 5 times each day, and they still clouded up the jars. By the end of the 7 day period, I could go the whole day and the jars would remain almost clear. I will agree on the smell change. There is a faint smell of pot, but nothing like nicely air cured buds have. I do kind of miss that part.

I stick to changing water once a day.....you may want to use a bigger container (my guess is the extra washings could knock off trich's).
I cure mine 50/50. I like the full taste and smell.
The extra strong, extra smooth is just for special people...like me

Yep, I agree with the 50/50 routine, but I keep most of the good stuff for me. But I do miss the true MJ smell for sure. I didn't lose any trichs when I changed the water, because I kept the buds in the jars and drained the water out slowly, not to cause a "flow". I very gently poured the fresh water back in, letting it run down the inside of the jar and not touching the buds themselves. No solids whatsoever were visible in the jar when draining. This leads me to believe that no damage was done to the trichs. The total couchlock stone can atttest to that. But yeah, keep the extra strong extra smooth for yourself.
