I have a crop of Z-strain cubes going for my first go at amateur mycology. Inocculated grain mix into sterilized straw, let the myceleum go through that and added the casing mixure and added a light for the fruiting cycle.

Myceleum has been poking through, stronger in some places where the casing mixure was thinner, so I evened it out carefully. Been spraying everyday lightly... yadda yadda yadda.

What I want to know, is know that the mycelleum is finally poking through how long should I expect pinning?

Also anyone with Z strain experience let me know on how good they are as far as yield, potency, do they flush many times? Whatever you can tell me is fine.

Peace,
DD

"Z-Strain"

Very rizomorphic strain! Rizomorphic mycelium seems to isolate itself. Very aggressive colonizer. One of the fastest strains from inoculation to harvests i've seen. Prolific fruiter with little to no recovery time between flushes!

Psilocybe cubensis "Z-Strain" on Uncle Ben's 5 Minute Rice cased with pictures

It usually takes 5 days to a week to see your spores start to germinate. Once they germinate it takes about 2 weeks for them to completely colonize the jar of brf/verm.

After the cakes are completely white, you then take them out of the jar and put them in your incubation chamber or casing.

Once you put the cakes in the chamber, it will take about a week before you start to see pins. After the pins start, it's usually only a few days before they mature in mushrooms. So about 1 month from start to finish.

Thanks for the info. I'd actually read about the guy growing on "Uncle Ben's 5-minute rice" with the Z strain. I don't know if there'd be enough nutes in the rice for the shrooms to fully develop the required results. He said he didn't really trip off them, so perhaps the blanched of all nutrient 5-minute rice just won't do the trick!

If I get a flush or two like that pic you have I'll be happy though! Everything seems to be coming up nice an evenly now, so if it goes well I'll take pics and show 'em.

Peace,
DD

Hay Brow I just started sum Z/Strain mushrooms my self last Saturday I'm using the jar method and I built a terrarium out of a foam cooler/plexy glass. So far the spores seem to be taking over the jar. I also red the 5 Minot rice trip report I hope the guy just had a real big tolerance for mushrooms. It would be a shame to go through the whole grow process and get nothing out of it. I would say the best trip I ever had was on thees Mushrooms I had in Japan their legal their I ate 1/2 once it kicked in in about 20 minutest I remember I was watching Army Of Darkness then the TV started to melt and I looked out side and all I seen was a giant mid evil courtyard it was so cool. Then this other time I ate 1/4 and went to a G.W.A.R concert but that's another story.

I read the 5 minute rice guys experiment as well. I think the problem with his method is that the rice he used has very little nutritional value.... whole grain rice has much more. Perhaps there just wasn't enough proper nutes to produce the psylocybin/psylocin.

First flush came off at just a little over 1/2 pound wet, should end up with at least an oz dry. They're at my buddies house crisping up as we speak. My bud's g/f ate 2 g's of not quite dry shrooms last night and tripped balls pretty good... fair amount of visuals and copious laughter. Wasn't the longest trip she's had, but she said it was one of the more pleasant trips.

Of course she gagged and nearly puked by the taste of shrooms that were only 3/4 dry. When she bit into the cap is squirted in her mouth and she nearly chucked!

First flush was fun, will see if there's a second or a third.

Peace,
DD

Hay Brow, Glad to hear your 1st flush turned out great I guess you were rite about the 5 minuet rice guy and the rice not having enough nutes. Hay, I got a couple of questions first could you explain the Inoculated grain mix method , like do you still half to make jars with brown rice flower and vermiculite and colonize the jars or do you do something completely deferent ? I really don't understand this method. Also how long did the whole experiment take from start to first flush? Last question can we get sum pictures? And Good Job
