Hey guys, just waiting to hear back from Karlis. If we can get him to agree on a naming scheme and start seeding the most recent shows as they come out then we can take care of the rest ourselves.
I'm going to migrate to the official tracker at
http://media.pot.tv:6969 as I think the stats show this has been a phenomenal success. We've generated over 40Gig of traffic from only 250M (7 shows) of pot-tv, with only 42 people participating in the beta test. Total cost to pot-tv was 25c. Potential savings (if we assume the equivalent streaming RealVideo traffic was moved onto BitTorrent) comes to about $40.
Magnify that by 4000 shows and hundreds if not thousands of participants, and it feels like we're onto something

Here's my thoughts on the plan going forward. If we can convert all pot-tv shows to a consistent naming standard, and have new shows seeded on the official tracker, then we will have everything we need to maintain this as a volunteer community. I think we could get away with pot-tv seeding the 10 most recent shows for a period of 1 week each. Alternatively if 1 person can get ftp/scp access to the raw files then any seeding cost to pot-tv is minimised to a single download and the community can take care of all seeding.
Once we've got a naming standard I'll start releasing torrents of the archive in batches and announce them on the official tracker.
If we could create a dedicated CC forum for announcing and requesting torrents, we could tie it in with the tracker and provide links straight to the torrent in forum posts here.
Once all of this has been achieved, I think we would be ready to announce this as an official service - if pot-tv agrees. The final step is to get a torrent link on each show page, particularly the most recent shows that are on the homepage.
