Downloads seem to be fast, I'm assuming POT-TV is hosting most of the downloads? Because a lot of the downloads were pretty fast to be from 1 seeder .

Hey. We've been running the pot-tv torrent tracker for a month or two, and I'm pretty happy with how it's working now. We can't afford to keep up our streaming bandwidth, so we'll be ending the streams and switching to torrent downloads only over the weekend, which will save us about $1000/month.

If you are unfamiliar with torrent downloads or need some help, there is a link on pot-tv to help you set up bittorrent on your computer.

One nice thing about leaving behind the realplayer streams is it will be easier to switch to another encoding format, which many of you have requested over the years. It's also possible that we'll reintroduce streaming or plain downloads in the future on a pay basis.

Pot-TV is pretty close to volunteer-run at this point, and we'll need all your help to keep pot-tv going through these tough times. Niall in particular has been a great help with suggestions on the torrent implementation. If you'd like to set up a dedicated seeder, let me know. Also, please make good use of the new donation link on the pot-tv site, if you can afford to help financially.

Cool! I'm downloading the latest Marijuana News Report with Rhiannon Rose, and there are 6 other people with it seeded!

Right on. This is great!

has anybody looked into the possibulity of broadcasting a regular channel over a peer to peer streeming tv network. there is a network called pplive which supposedly requires about 2 mbps to broadcast to any sized audience. I can watch chinese tv @ over 100 (sweet quality) kbps on a dsl line. it's worth looking into anyways.

So far I have 2.4GB of content being offered from a dedicated server which I can now do about 50GB/month from, and an ADSL connection which I can do 3GB from. I am using 'btlaunchmany . --max_upload_rate 20' to share the torrents.

I would like to serve at least 80GB from both locations to start out. However it is a bit of a chore and perhaps an unecessary bandwidth strain gathering the content through torrents. Has anyone burned content to CD's or DVD's?

I will be stopping by the BCMP to pick up the current Cannabis Culture and the 2006 calendar later today or tomorrow. If anyone can get something together I would be happy to pay for the media in addition to my regular donation

Hey Vapor Eyes,

You can come downstairs in the BCMP Bookstore, and visit Marc and I in the CC office.

Thanks for planning to stop by!

Thanks. I ran into Marc upstairs and ended up talking to David about making CD's and DVD's. It sounds like Karlis is the guy to talk to about this.

I think getting some DVD volumes made up so people can just put the DVD in their computer and start sharing would help this take off, as we can then be certain all of the content will be shared equally, rather than being based on popularity. At the least it would get more sharing happening on my server more quickly without any strain to those currently sharing.

I should probably search around in these threads a bit more incase this has been brought up before.

Out of the 2.4GB of content on my server, 956MB has been shared today. Wooo!

I was just on emule the other day trying to get the
I grow Chronic movie in a different format. The Divx
encoding in the avi make burning to cd useless. 7 hours
converting and it was only at 3% complete ..
I had 12 others getting the same file from me on emule
so there are peeps out there wanting this stuff.
