MARIJUANA MARCH HISTORY

The Million Marijuana March was started in 1999 by Cures-not-Wars founder, Dana Beal. The idea for an international march grew out of the annual pro-pot demonstration that took place only in New York City.

In its first five years, the Million Marijuana March grew in size and scope. In 2003 there were rallies and marches in over 200 cities around the world.

2004 marks the sixth anniversary of this worldwide event. To reflect the international scope of this global march for marijuana freedom, we are promoting a new name, the Global Marijuana March.

Thanks David! Here is a link to the small version of the poster found on the www.cannabisculture.com/march page:

Everybody: Please do not pass on the geocities links anymore. Geocities has really screwed up all their free webpages in the last few weeks. I may delete all my geocities pages, or leave a short message on those pages telling people the page has been moved to the other mirror pages. Fortunately, I only have a few pages on Geocities.

Use this page URL instead for the MMM world map and city list:

Dana Beal's email address is dana@cures-not-wars.org or cnw@cures-not-wars.org

Please put "MMM" in the email subject-title so that it is not mistaken for spam and deleted.

Currently there are 140 cities in 26 nations signed up for MMM 2005 for May 7, 2005!

I always look forward to the march. It's probably the best idea from the marijuana community. It's the one time in the whole year where marijuana people come out globally and say they smoke pot. hypies, punks, students, office workers, labours come together. I look forward to hoping the go train to toronto and marching with my fellow potheads.

Forwarded request and discussion:

--------------

Hey Emlee,

I am combining our messages below and sending
them to some more individuals, email lists and forums.
I bet other people in other cities will benefit from the discussion.

I found out that Cannabis Culture (CC) is only doing posters
and not flyers. I assume by flyers that CC means the
quarter-page flyers you requested.

Check out the quarter-page flyers that some Canadian cities
put out for 2003, 2004, and 2005 MMM and other events:
http://frankdiscussion.netfirms.com/events.html and
http://frankdiscussion.netfirms.com/MMM2004_CdnCities.htm and
http://frankdiscussion.netfirms.com/MMM2003_CdnCities.htm

I think if one can get one original black and white 9x11 inch flyer done by someone for Philadelphia MMM or another city, then that flyer can be put on the web for anybody to download and use as an original. I mean a 9x11 with 4 quarter-page flyers on it.

One can copy the original black and white flyer onto pastel-colored regular paper. 9x11 inch letter-size paper that one can buy in bulk. Packs of 500 or 1000 pieces of paper or more. Then put the pastel paper in the paper tray at Kinko's or wherever. Have Kinko's cut the copies into quarter page sizes, or do it oneself with the paper cutter there.

Cheap way to get a few thousand colorful flyers to pass out, or to post anywhere one wants.

Hey there~~
I prolly will contact Cannabis Culture, although I
still have to put the philly info on their
flyers...I'm preferring something Philly specific so
if any of yo peeps are interested in collaborating
with me please let them know. I don't have time for
posters and as for time I've spent on college campuses
in the past I feel it was a whole lot of time and
effort but didn't work all to much magic--there are
other spaces and place worht more my time around here.

I just need quarter page black and white flyers to put
out/ hand out.
Thanks alot~~
