Okay people, this opium thing is obviously a whole thread in itself, smartypants has been kind enough to start one.

Misconceptions about 'Other' Illegal drugs
Please - lets keep this to evaluating this rally and planning the next one. We've all made our point and more posts have been devoted to this issue than the actual evaluation of the rally.
I agree that a lot of this thread has been about the opium. Maybe too much. But the title of the other thread incorrectly sums up the opium discussion here. I suggest people go to that thread if they want to discuss opium use, its health risks, misconceptions about it, etc..
But I think that other parts of the opium discussion are very relevant to the discussion and evaluation of the rally.
If I and others had shut up early on in this thread when we brought up the problems with changing the name from Fill the Hill exclusively to Truth Hope and Compassion, then that problem would not have been resolved, and we would have given up on that name. We now OWN that name Fill the Hill, and that little fascist Jody Pressman has not gotten his way.
I haven't discussed whether rally organizers should discourage use of other drugs at a rally. Possibly with an announcement from the stage. At least that would put the onus back on those using other drugs. That would allow the rally organizers to say to reporters that they can not be responsible for all the drug use at a rally.
I haven't even said my opinion on the whole issue of using opium at a rally. Frankly, I haven't made up my own mind.
Maybe not in the USA. I think that might be really risky. There are usually undercover narcs floating around any cannabis rally in the USA. Each city usually knows whether the narcs will bust people or not for smoking at a cannabis rally.
I would not talk loudly about the cannabis/opium mixture at a USA rally. Do it on the downlow. It is a much bigger bust in the USA. Huge risk of LONG prison time. Felony possession and trafficking of opium. Many years in prison.

Kashmir hash, best shit i ever toked! 37 years ago! At the sweet age of 13!
There was opium in it. Ah was it ever sweet!
$25.00 per quarter ounce!
That was the price back then.
Black, sticky, gooooy...
"Dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before..."
Stuff was delicious for the palette, sweet scent and the mind, climbing, soaring, glowing...
No crime!
I didn't mind about the opium in the hash back then.
It was considered a delicacy to find some good hash like this stuff.
Rolled it in spliff's with drum tobacco from Holland!
This maniac needs a toke.
If only!

Hey Flower Power, I remember those days too. Hell hash and opium go together like iceing on cake. Anyone flipping out over a couple of hits in a pipe needs to give their head a shake. Sounds like the cops had a real hard-on this year. Kudos to all those involved.
