If they get rid of cash every one will be going back to bartering, what happens when you sell second hand goods, every one will need a credit card reader, and we will all get stuffed with the 3 percent charge, which is probably why the banks are pushing for it. Its bad enough not having 1cent coins causing prices to be rounded up to the nearest 5 cents, how many millions are the shops making off of that little scheme.

One of the goals of government for getting rid of cash is to "profile" you for control. In other words they can monitor your shopping habits, where you go, what you do etc. Collect a computer data base on you and put you in a category. China is already doing this to its' people. Bad credit, having too many kids, blogging against government corruption, bad marks in school, arrest etc. will ban you from getting a passport, getting on a plane or high speed train. It'll prevent you and your wife and children from getting some types of jobs and education or attending events and facilities. Once they get rid of cash they'll benefit from more taxes when they come out with "universal wages" for everyone. Maybe they'll even request that you use your fingerprint with financial transactions or use their implanted chip in your hand. They then coordinate the data with facial, camera and computer/cellphone technologies.
