Because screw entrepreneurship and innovation, the Canadian nanny state knows best!

Your tax dollars at work.

The black market will continue to thrive as long as the nanny state has it's head up its own ass.

Anyone up for starting a petition and shutting down this ridiculous government plan? Just need 500 signatures to get the ball rolling...

It keeps it simple for them this way. They can control who gets to produce their products and where the seeds come from, and also the price by removing competition. So if you get stopped with a some weed, and they think it is not kosher, they can check where it came from by its genetics and fine or imprison you accordingly if its a black market product.

It will be the same for grow your own 4 plants, you will need to by a license and then purchase your seeds from a licensed producer, again so they can genetically test for black market products.

"this just really makes me so mad, we truly live in a overtaxed socialist dystopia"

Socialism means "freedom from exploitation". This is monopoly capitalism, not socialism, that we are suffering under with respect to the new pot regs. The LP's lobbied for this.

You can bet your life on it they did.

It will be interesting to see what other provinces do, I expect most will follow suit.

Its strange how I can make wine without having to purchase a license, or bye my wine kits from the Government liquor stores, although I still pay tax for the kits.

In Maine USA products are tested for THC, CBD, levels and genetic markers before being shipped and tracked all the way to dispensaries so they know who has what and where it came from. If I read and understood the article correctly.
