I've heard that if you put fresh harvested plants in the freezer for 24 to 48 hours (then hang to dry) that they may develop purple color from the extreme cold temps. I'm sure it also depends on if the strain is one that even shows color. Is this true? Has anyone done anything like that?

You want purple for just "the look?"

The freezer is a great starting point to make bubble... not sure about the color thing

Color usually comes late in the season close to harvest after a few cold nights ,or when nutes start to get depleted?. Some strains have purple no matter what but again thats in growing-flowering mode. As far as freezer color i have no idea.

I have had color come about naturally after a few cold nights like ResinFarmer stated. I am skeptical of the freezer method, I heard it from someone else who heard from someone else.....you know how that goes... wink Figured I'd ask around on here to see if it has any validity to it. Maybe not. I may try it at someone point with just a few plants and then report back!

I think its BS.... some one got confused. you get colors from cold temps during flower ( also strain dependent) ....freezing bud after its cut down is just gonna ruin your pot ....

How would that ruin the pot? I have no idea, as I've never done it, but I'm curious. I suppose it makes it wimpy - limpy?

it will ruin the pot like putting a fresh tomato in a freezer to freeze then thawing... it break the water structure on the plant cells. then it just destroys the plant, becuase everything is fucked. .. put a tomato in the freezer for two day and let it thaw then see wha tit looks like....

I knew this couldn't be true. Thanks for the input guys....I think I'll pass on this and stick to what I know will bring on those colors.

yup.. that brings out the colours really nice.. sunny days and cold nights!..

In my personal experience, putting fresh weed in the freezer destroys the goodness of it. You can still smoke it eventually and it might be alright.. but it looks alot worse and wont be half as good.. Lol it will make it a tad bit darker looking though. but its crappy.

this was brought up at the cannnabis cup by arjan of green house seeds. this done after the weed is dried than put in the freezer for 6 weeks .not sure on the whole idea but is supposed to bring out the terpes in the bud.

that could work. is this a purple strain? or are you just trying to purple the leaves? i have also heard of growers cutting off the lights for 48-72hrs and blasting AC. cold will purple the leaves real good, but for a purple strain to show purple you need both good light and cold nights. Oaksterdam says that purple strains thrive under 1000w and love to be fed with every watering. i have also found this to be very true. my strain loves the light and the nutes. i can hit em with all i got and they just love it.

Lol <Im sure it would work. Nighttime they dont need any air, if your fridge is big enough, try it out.. probably be a good test.. apparently colder temps at night sometimes boosts crystal coverage too since the plant feels its time to shut down and protect itself or something.. worth a go for sure.

They actually do need fresh air 24/7 just as do you. Air has Co2, which the plants take Carbon from to make their bodies. And if your fridge is "too cold' which means below 50 F ,which it is, your plants won't do so well, between the temps and suffocation.
